Advantages: Great beats and witty raps

Missy Elliot's masterpiece, Under Construction is the perfect summer record, full of witty lyrics and astute beats.
The opener has Missy tell us exactly what to expect then she smashes our expectations to pieces with the insane 'Work It' with its knife sharp lyrics and unrepentant aggression. Before time to breath 'Gossip Folks' screeches in and again Missy tells us what she thinks.
'Back in the Day' Sums up Missy;s thoughts on the state of music and is the perfect explanation for 'Under Construction', an album which make Hip Hop fun, intelligent and 'constructive'.
Other track such as the snappy 'Funky Fresh Dressed', and sexy sweaty 'Slide' are also highlights. The only dud for me was the slow dialogue ballad with Beyonce 'Nothin out there', and Pussycat, which although lyrically bold had a relatively tired melody.

Overall 'under construction' is a defining album for HipHop in the 00's and for good reason. Listen to 'Back in the Day' and you'll understand.
