As far as most artists go Avril Lavigne is not seen by a lot of people under the age of 20 as that credible. However she has lasted for three albums and is preparing to release her 4th sometime this year so you have to give her points for her longevity considering most acts are dead and burried by the time album no2 even hits the shop shelves. After her outburst of bratty, punk fueled attitude on debut offering 'Let Go', 'Under My Skin' represents a much darker side of Avril and is ripe with haunting lyrics and even stronger tracks than her first offering. It's evidently still Avril Lavigne but with a bitter twist that captures the true turmoil and angst of ... Read the complete review

Regardless of what you wish to call her, punk, pop, rock, punk-pop, pop-rock etc, Avril Lavigne is an incredible artist that whether you like it or not, will be around for many years to come. So you may say that many artists bring out a debut album that flies off the shelves, and you'd be right. But how many of those artists follow that up with a great second effort ? I'll use Linkin Park for an example. I'm a huge fan of theirs and absolutely loved Hybrid Theory, but after the release of their second album, Meteora, I found that they had become repetitive and if anything, the overall quality of the work had dropped rather significantly. The same threat has ... Read the complete review

Hey all, sorry I haven?t been around, I?ve been a busy bunny, but I thought I?d come back. And what better topic to start back with than my favourite person, LaWhinger? *Grins evilly*. I?m actually surprised she?s lasted to the second album point. I?m almost prepared to eat my hat in fact, but it?s really cool so I don?t think I?ll bother. After the whole ?Avril is not punk backlash?, she started insisting she had never called herself punk, which is, as we all know, a blatant lie. She has now proved herself to be either A- a massive hypocrite or B- totally under the thumb of her manager. Possibly both. This has made me respect the girl even less, she?s gone ... In 2004, Avril Lavigne released her second album in the UK- 'Under My Skin'. Unlike her first album where she had nothing to prove to music critics, her sophomore album had to be as good, if not better, for her to keep her place in music. However, unlike her debut album where she had little aid from experienced staff, this album features lyrical assistance from Chantal Kreviazuk (a well-known Canadian singer-songwriter) and also from Ben Moody (from Evanescence). She was more hands-on with this album and so there is more of a feeling that this is more synonymous with her personality. I can definitely hear a more grunge, more alternative rock feel to this album when I ... Read the complete review

This is Avril Lavigne's second album and she waited a year from the release of her last song, I'm with you to release this album, under my skin. There is one special song on there that made me cry when I first heard it, as it was so beautiful. There was also a poster that also came with it that is now up on my wall. *********************************************************************** I'll start with the cover and design of the CD album. It's red writing, with a picture of avril in her Goth clothes. It's got a grey-black background as well. It's pretty simple, but I think that sometimes, simpler is better. The back has another picture of Avril ... Read the complete review
