Despite the fact that this will likely fall on deaf ears, and for me represents an uphill battle; seeing as there is no accounting for taste, especially in music and precisely because there is so much mixed opinion on Keane’s second album/CD, “Under the Iron Sea”, I feel compelled to chime in and offer my rationale as to why this is a great album. Consider the fact that there are those who find no significant satisfaction in this second album yet really enjoyed and continue to enjoy Hopes and Fears. Having compared general impression with lyric analysis, production techniques and tendency toward musical growth, I have concluded there is no way Iron Sea can be ... Read the complete review

For those of you who have read my reviews before, you will be well aware that I am a huge Keane fan. My love affair with the band from 'Battle' started way back in May 2004 when I first saw them playing at Bristol Uni. By this time they had only ever released 'Somewhere only we know' and although that was my single of the year, I really didn't know what else to expect from this little known band; but sure enough they blew me away with their powerfull lyrics, Tom Chaplin's characteristic voice and the bands individual sound. Ever since that day I have followed everything that Keane has done, bought their singles, DVD's, artwork, autographs (no I don't do ... Read the complete review

It was August 2006 and we were driving around Norway in a hired car. In our wisdom we had bought along an MP3 player instead of our usual CD walkman and discs. So we were stuck with a car entertainment system that consisted of Norwegian radio and a separate MP3 player. Mrs Cad was able to listen to the MP3 player, whilst I went stir crazy listening to circa 1980's pop music that had a nasty habit of cracking up every time I went drove over a mountain and into the next valley. After nearly five hours driving I pulled into a garage and Mrs Cad saw this CD sitting on a shelf. We bought it at a premium price for around £14 along with the Gnarls Barkley 'St. Elsewhere' album ... Read the complete review

UNDER THE IRON SEA is the title of British indie rock band KEANE's album. The album consists of 12 tracks. The opening track ATLANTIC is a solid start with strong melodies and powerful vocals. The instrumental support is on good form and the lyrics tell a good story. IS IT ANY WONDER features a great intro which is full of energy. The vocals are sung with passion and the fast paced melodies make ths a track you can dance to. NOTHING IN MY WAY is a more mellow song with goodlyrics and a decent rhythm. The chorus is catchy. LEAVING SO SOON starts of slow though builds towards a good chorus with soothing melodies and has a ... Read the complete review

'Under the Iron Sea' is Keane's follow-up album to their well received 2004 debut album, 'Hopes & Fears' and whilst it is unmistakably Keane, at the same time it sounds different. The album sounds bigger and somewhat braver than their previous offering - but bigger doesn't always mean better... I'd class myself as Keane fan, I enjoyed their first album and I've seen them live twice, but after a week of listening to 'Under the Iron Sea', for me at least, there are just not as many high points as on 'Hopes & Fears'. Track 11, the curiously titled, 'Frog Prince' and Track 5 ‘A Bad Dream’ are as close to the ‘typical’ Keane sound as the album ... Read the complete review
