The Artist
=================
James Morrison is the husky-voiced highly talented solo artist from Rugby. His debut album 'Undiscovered' was a huge success and brought him a lot of fame, he was out of the limelight for a while but has recently made a comeback with the smash hit 'Broken Strings', a duet with Nelly Furtado. Music has always been a part of James' life, learning to play the guitar at the age of twelve and enjoying music. In 2006 he gained his huge fanbase with the release 'You Give Me Something'. A lot of people (me included!) love his style of jazzy, soulful soft rock. So far he has released two studio albums:
Undiscovered (2006)
Songs For You, Truths For Me (2008)

====================
01. Under The Influence
====================
This is a great feel good track for the opener, it starts off with a funky beat and a great melody on the piano. The verse really shows off this guys amazing vocal range, he has a very unique husky voice that suits this style of music perfectly. If I had a choice, I would put 'Wonderful World' as the opening track just because I love it but there is definitely nothing negative to say about this song! "Whatever I do I'm under the ifluence of you". 9/10.

02. You Give Me Something
====================
This is the track that gained James Morrison the popular reputation he has today. It was succesful worldwide and I can see why although there are still better tracks on this album. It starts off with a simple tune quickly followed by some very relaxing vocals. The lyrics to this song are good but they are made even better by the way in which James sings them! This track has a really soulful feel to it, it's very different to the up beat first track. "You give me something that makes me scared alright, this could be nothing but I'm willing to give it a try, please give me something 'cause someday I might know my heart". 9/10.

====================
03. Wonderful World
====================
This is my second favourite song on the album. The lyrics seem very heart felt and you can tell that James really means everything he sings. I think that on some level everyone can relate to these lyrics, no matter what the context, that's one of the things that make this song so great. James wastes no time in bringing in his powerful vocals by charging straight into the verse within the first second. "I've been down so low people look at me and they know, they can tell something is wrong, it's like I don't belong, well, staring through a window, standing outside there just too happy to care, tonight I wanna be like them but I'll mess it up again, I tripped on my way in, got kicked outside everybody saw". 10/10.

04. The Pieces Don't Fit Anymore
=======================
This track is a slow ballad type song, quite different to the previous tracks, the verses are sung in a very low voice until James shows the full potential of his endless talent in the powerful chorus. This isn't a favourite song of mine, I find it slightly depressing but all the same I can appreciate that it is a good track, it's just not to my taste. "I've been twisting and turning in a space that's too small, I've been drawing the line, and watching it fall, you've been closing me in, closing the space in my heart". 8/10.

====================
05. One Last Chance
====================
Much like 'Wonderful World' this track contains lyrics that everybody will be able to relate to at some point. It's not a very uplifting song, more of a thought provoking track but still good, depending on what sort of mood you're in of course! "In my life I don't mean much to anyone, I lost my way, can't go back anymore, once I had everything now it's gone, don't tell me again 'cause I've heard it all before, some people say that I'm not worth it, I've made mistakes but nobody's perfect I guess I'll give it a try" 7/10.

====================
06. Undiscovered
====================
This track has quite a mellow, uplifting feel to it. It's not a favourite of mine but again it just depends on your taste and what sort of mood you're in! It starts off with a nice melody on the piano and some jazzy, soulful vocals from James. "I'm not lost, I'm not lost just undiscovered, and when we're alone we're all the same as each other, you see the look that's on my face, you might think that I'm out of place, I'm not lost just undiscovered". 8/10

====================
07. The Letter
====================
I love the intro to this track, it never fails to put a smile on my face for some reason! Again, it's quite a mellow track and very easy to listen to. The chorus has got a really soulful feel too. "It's got my name on it, and it's just waiting there for me, I felt the cold run through my veins" 9/10.

====================
08. Call The Police
====================
I really don't like this song I'm afraid! There's nothing particularly bad about it I just find it quite difficult to get into. It has a very jazzy feel to it at the start of the song but it goes too powerful in the chorus for it to work. "I'm done, shoot your gun, I think it's time to take it back to where we started from, your pain, my pain, I'll write it down and tell you exactly how I feel again." 6/10.

====================
09. This Boy
====================
By far my favourite song on the album. It's so simple yet so powerful! I love the acoustic guitar background, there are no pointless instruments filling gaps, it's just fantastic vocals and very easy to listen to music. "This girl trys her best everyday but it's all gone to waste 'cause there's no one around, this girl she can draw she can paint, likes to dance, she can skate now she don't make a sound". 10/10.

====================
10. If The Rain Must Fall
====================
I don't really like this track. It sounds too old fashioned and jazzy which is not something that appeals to me. The vocals are good, I just can't listen to this track at all because I find myself getting slightly bored so I'm not even going to post the lyrics! 3/10.

====================
11. How Come
====================
Unfortunately, I can't really comment on this track because I deleted it and it didn't make it on to my iPod either-I guess that says it all really! Give it a chance though, you might like it. 1/10.

====================
12. The Last Goodbye
====================
This track starts off with a slow beat that sounds a bit like the start of 'The Pieces Don't Fit Anymore'. It takes a while for the song to really kick in, the intro goes on for quite a while until the start of the verse. I didn't think that I would like this track at first however, after listening to it a few times I actually started to love it. "I don't believe you and I never will, oh I can't live by your side with the lies you've tried to instill, I can't take anymore, I don't have to give you a reason" 10/10.

====================
13. Better Man
====================
This is a very nice, relaxing song, with an acoustic guitar and gorgeous vocals, very easy to listen to but can be a bit depressing! "You are all that I need, for you I'd give my soul to keep" 8/10.

My Overall Opinion
====================
This was a brilliant debut album from James Morrison, it is filled with fantastic tracks with the exception of just a few and I'm sure that everyone will enjoy at least one track. If you have bought James' second album then I would recommend buying this one too because it is well worth the money! Overall, 8/10.
