... track is an instant classic. I didn't think some of the faster tracks, such as Summer of 69, would work unolugged, but I was so wrong. The accompaniment of Keith Scott is perfect, and is at its best on the track "I'll always be right there" where he plays the Spanish guitar flawlessley. "Heaven" unplugged is just perfect, and a really beautiful song, whilst his new track on the album "Back to you" hits all the right notes. In short, I don't see why anyone would not like this, it was given ...more

Premium Review Mtv Unplugged - Bryan Adams: lively bryan (205 words)

Bryan Adams has lost his way over recent years. Thankfully this album is taken form a time before he did anything with Chicane or Mel C. Recorded live at a one off concert, this is definitely my favorite Bryan Adams album. Interestingly, I always prefer his studio material when it is loud and generally dislike his quiet ballads. Yet this album is stripped of all electric guitars but comes out sounding magnificent. Most unplugged albums are best when heavy rock songs are given a total make over (such as in Eric Clapton's Unplugged album). The quieter tracks all sound much the same as the originals, but the new tracks and the reworking of upbeat numbers, make this is a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review New Take on Old Songs (338 words)

Having been a fan of Bryan Adams for ages I brought this CD whe it came out. I don't watch MTV and never saw the programme where he performed these songs but listening to the CD I really wish I had. It is a great collection of his songs, every one of them enjoyable for different reasons, and as they have been performed live and "unplugged" on MTV they come across as totally different to th normal recordings of them that we hear on his other albums. There are no new somgs on this album, simply new takes on old songs and it is really refreshing to hear some of them. Summer of 69 for instance is probably one of his best known songs and one he ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mtv Unplugged - Bryan Adams: Keep up the good work Bryan (104 words)

The MTV unplugged albums have brought mixed opinions from critics the world over. I myself have enjoyed the Nirvana, and Eric Clapton unplugged sessions, but was less fond of Pearl Jam unplugged. I am happy to say that I love the Bryan Adams album, 'MTV unplugged'. It contains loads of Bryan's classic hits in acoustic form and also a great new song, 'Back to you'. People often wonder whether an acoustic version of one of Bryan's songs my sound better than the electric album version and you can now make that decision for yourself with the help of this great album. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bryan Adams Unplugged - Perfect (269 words)

A really beautiful album, with a large selection of some of Bryan Adams best known songs, stripped bare and reworked. The tracklist will be mainly familiar to even the slightest Bryan Adams fan, with classics such as Summer of 69, 18 till i die, Cuts Like a Knife and Heaven, however they are sung like you've never heard them before. Its all about Bryan Adams' voice, and his amazing accoustic guitar playing, nad every track is an instant classic. I didn't think some of the faster tracks, such as Summer of 69, would work unolugged, but I was so wrong. The accompaniment of Keith Scott is perfect, and is at its best on the track "I'll always be right there" where ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mtv Unplugged - Bryan Adams: He doesn't look so appealing anymore but the boy can sin ... (145 words)

When I was younger, I fancied Bryan Adams, but now, he has lost his appeal to me. I don’t know whether it’s because he sang a song with the squeaky Sporty spice or he’s short, skinny and his complexion isn’t that great. Either way, I don’t fancy him anymore! I bought his album ‘Bryan Adams, unplugged’ purely for the one particular song called, ‘back to you’. I first seen him sing this song on MTV, I instantly liked it and rushed out to buy the whole record. This album is unplugged of course and some of the songs listed are: Summer of 69 Cuts like a knife 18 ‘til I die and heaven. ...  Read the complete review

Sorrow Throughout The Nine W.. - Amon Amarth
Five excellent songs capturing the Swedes at the peak of their abilities. Short, and not as easy to come by as the other albums.

Symphony for a Psychosis - Al Azred
Superb guitars, and good enough reproduction of the brutal death style. Lacks originality in pretending to be American.

Watching From a Distance - Warning
Unparalleled despair. Repetitive and mood-specific, and hard to find.

Wigand - Adorned Brood
Interesting and dogmatic take on the folk metal genre. Becomes repetitive and dull fairly quickly, winding up discordant more often than harmonious.

Bad Religion - Bad Religion
Fun and competent debut release. Only 'Sensory Overload' really stands out as an early classic.

Easy Pieces - Lloyd Cole and the Commotions
Pleasant poppy sound, suitably gloomy lyrics Can be a bit gentle for my tastes

...and We Are Falling Leaves - Autumn
Atmospheric and varied Russian doom with nice keyboards. Doesn't know what it wants to sound like.

Tomorrow Will Never Come - Agalloch
Another nice acoustic song from Don Anderson. A pointless remix, and a pointlessly obscure release in general.
