Advantages: Strong Voice, So much feeling in each song, Many years left in her
Disadvantages: Poor advertising
I have just returned from what will probably be :( Vanessa's only UK gig this year. But, too be honest I would'nt blame her if it was. The venue was a small club on Charing's Cross, only about 250ish people were present. This low turnout is attributed to a couple of factors. Firstly, silent advertising (I only knew about the gig coz I frequent her web site so much!) and most puzzling was a major online ticket vendor decided to put directions to the wrong venue on the site!! Griping aside, Vanessa is probably one of the best live acts I have seen. She has a naturally strong voice but what makes her stand out above the rest is the amount of feeling she puts into every single song, and boy did the audience get value for money in this performance. In all Vanessa sang 15 tracks, most of which feature on her album but she added a couple of new tracks, a couple of covers and a couple of tracks to let her band show off their talent. My favourite songs from the act would be: - (in no particular order) Pray For Love - An excellent song to start with, instantly waking the audience up after the painful warm-up act. I Wanna Be Your Everything - A great song which a large number of people can relate to (including myself). U R Mine - This song makes you wonder if Vanessa really knows someone who was in the situation as every time I have heard her sing this she has put so much feeling into it. The Power - Big crowd pleaser! Vanessa's strong voice helps get the crowd moving to this powerful song. Lots of energy, lots of POWER. Absolutely Everybody - Last but one song on the evening but still given as much energy and feeling as all the others. Another big crowd pleaser. Overall - An excellent evening had by all the people who turned up. If she returns to the UK for another gig then I for one will be going.
