This is Garbage’s second album following up their first self-titled album. I found my copy in a second hand shop for £6, which I consider a bargain. I’ve heard their first album round a friend’s house and only liked 2 songs. Luckily this is much better and I like practically every song. The album consists of 12 songs which over all (this is my own math so don’t trust it to much) lasts for 50 minutes and 34 seconds. It was made in 1998 so it’s not too old in album terms. The band has released a new album this year of which I have heard no material to compare. THE SONGS 1: Temptation Waits (4.36) This is off of ... Read the complete review

Do you ever hear a song that suddenly brings memories flooding back that remind you of a particular place or event? Well, this is what the whole of Version.2.0 does to me. Perhaps this makes my opinion a little on the bias side as I love it for sentimental reasons, but I'll try to justify it as well as I can. Just to sum Garbage up, they were formed in 1994 by Butch Vig, who on his impressive CV has previously produced albums for bands such as Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Nine Inch Nails Smashing Pumpkins which is reflected in this album and its influences. In Garbage, Butch plays drums and produces the music, adding up to a sound that is polished to perfection. ... Read the complete review

With the new release just days away, I decided to delve into the old cd box and pull this out again and I was glad I did. Following on from the big selling debut album, the pressure was always on to deliver. And deliver they have, Ex Goodbye Mr McKenzie vocalist, Shirley Manson, has become a full blown proper pop star vamp godess. Songwise, though, on several instances here it’s the sheer impact of their studio trickery that bales them out. Both opener Temptation Waits and its follow-up, I Think I’m Paranoid, pack such sonic clout that their slightly thin tunes are all but compensated for by dynamic in your face rhythms and buzzsaw guitar ... A few reviews of this album, Garbage's second, rate it as the better of the two. Hmmmmm... I'm definitely not sure (a contradiction in terms, what!) about that as I consider Version 2.0 as being little more than a retread of the first one - same sound, same sort of songs, same vocals, all round Garbage by numbers it could be. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing and I did love the first Garbage album. If I'd been seeking a double album at the time and they'd got both out as being product of the same period, then I may well have loved it, but unfortunately I'm one of those boring, anorakish killjoys who expects groups to ... Bought this album recently in a sale, not really knowing what to expect. Of course, everyone knows the most famous songs, the singles like Special and Push It. What I wasn't too sure about was what the quality of the other songs would be like. I'm now convinced this is one of the best albums I've bought. Garbage are mostly known for Shirley Manson, their somewhat flamboyant lead singer, but the group are exceptional musicians in their own right. If you like a sophisticated guitar sound, you'll love Garbage. Stand-out songs on this album are "The trick is to keep breathing", and the haunting "You look so fine". ... Read the complete review
