Advantages: oldies
Disadvantages: some re recordings
The idea of a very best of Jive Bunny might well put fear into any sane person's head, but fret not, as the CD will also bring back some fond memories and you will find yourself recognising quite a lot of the songs.
Who are they
Jive Bunny basically gathered old sixties songs and put them into megamixes. They managed to achieve some number one hits in the early nineties, fronted by a giant bunny rabbit.
Highlights:
The obvious choice is the wonderful 'Swing The Mood, which borrows from Glenn Miller to great effect. The song uses 'In The Mood' to get you in the party spirit, while also working in snatches of Chubby Checker. There is a delicious bit of Bill Haley in there too.
'That's What I Like' gave them another number one and is packed to the hilt with memories. 'Hawaii 5 o' and 'The Twist' are the opening songs here. I find both of these quite annoying, it also appears some songs have been resung, so you are not getting the original versions.
'Can Can You Party' is good fun if you can stomach the can can for the majority of the track, by this point the magic is beginning to wear off and their habit of churning through the sixties back catalogue is throwing up slim pickings.
If you want some Christmas flavoured music, dip into 'Let's Party' which merges 'Merry Xmas Everybody' by Slade, Wizzard and a choice cut from Gary Glitter. It is not one I would rush to play at the festive tide, despite the fact that the tracks blend together well.
'Hot Summer Salsa' will give you something to play while in the summer season, while 'The Glenn Miller Medley' is a shameless retread of 'Swing The Mood.'
Overall
13 tracks, some songs are not original versions and the album is helped only by some amusing cover artwork!
