Premium Review The Very Best Of Meat Loaf - Meat Loaf: Pure Genius!! (414 words)

I absolutely love this album. When I was younger my older cousin played Meat Loaf all the time and I loved listening to it. When I was older I heard Bat out of Hell on the radio and was reminded of its brilliance. As soon as I heard it, I went on the hunt for a Meat Loaf greatest hits album in the hope that after hearing it I would still enjoy it the way I did when I was younger. I came across the Very Best of Meat Loaf and bought it as it seemed to be of good value for money with having 2 discs and more of the classic Meat Loaf songs than any other Meat Loaf album, songs including Bat out of Hell, Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Rock and Roll Dreams ...  Read the complete review

In 1977 an unknown man calling himself Meat Loaf, released his debut album, Bat out of hell 1. This album remained unnoticed for around 6 months, when it suddenly started selling wildly. That album, is now the third biggest selling album ever, have been in the album charts for 395 weeks in total, being outsold by Michael Jackson and Fleetwood Mac. It never actually reached no.1 in the album chart, no.9 being its highest entry to date. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = General facts = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Jim Steinman his real name, Meat Loaf was accompanied by many other musicians: Guitar- Todd Rundgreen Piano- Roy ...  Read the complete review

I've been a fan of Meatloaf since the eighties, I worked in a photo lab and we always had Meatloaf or something similar playing in the background, usually the Hits Out Of Hell album and we used to get lots of comments on how much better our background music was compared to other places. I bought this album after developing a nostalgic craving for some of the music I used to listen to and this one seemed to contain many of the songs I used to love. I bought it on ebay for £4.99 including p&p so it was a bargain! The album contains 2 CDs and the tracks are as follows: Disc One 1.Home By Now/No Matter What 2. Life Is A Lemon And I ...  Read the complete review

It is over 20 years since Meat Loaf burst onto the scene with the album Bat out of Hell. This was an album which set new standards in rock production and in doing so defined a whole new rock music genre. Meat Loafs gothic grand rock style was built on the extraordinary song-writing and production talents of Jim Steinman. Meat Loafs appeal was wide and fans closer to the heavy metal scene mingled with lovers of strong ballads in the queues at the music store and they bought the album in millions. In addition to the song Bat out of Hell songs like Heaven Can Wait' ,Paradise by the Dashboard Light' and the powerful You took the Words Right Out of my Mouth' ...  Read the complete review

well meatloaf seems to be one of thoes guys you either love or hate music wise, peronsally he is quite a funny easy going guy. musically meat loafs music is dramatic and full of bombast. much close to springsteens especially on the bat out of hell album which was recording using memebers of springsteens e street band back in 77. that album was a meag selling monster and still remains so and meat loafs best work. since then he has had moments of greatnest with dead ringer for love ( the now classic ) and i would do anything for love nut i wont do that ( the 90's hit and now classic ) throw in some other minor hits and you have a great best of album . if you ...  Read the complete review

An insight into the beginnings of Brit pop Not for anyone who wasn't the slightest bit inpressed with the single 'Happy Hour.'

It's by Aerosmith!, Can be found cheap!, Plenty of good songs Not a solid album

Some wonderful tracks plus missing material Some fillers and most prefer the previous release 'Escape'

Where The Shadows Lie - Battlelore
Atmospheric metal for Tolkien fans. No one else will find much here.

Third Age Of The Sun - Battlelore
Folk elements hint towards an interesting new direction. Still too rooted in gothic- and nu-metal to really impress.

Swords Song - Battlelore
Improved orchestration. All the old problems remain.

Sex Starved - Batmobile
More consistent and level-headed. Tendencies towards silliness still ruin things.

In Control - Nemesea
Sound like Evanescence/Lacuna Coil Album is too short

Evernight - Battlelore
If you like Evanescence, this should be enough to satisfy your low expectations. An even greater disappointment than their other albums.

Bail Is Set At Six Million Dollars - Batmobile
Further psychedelic elements... ...but very few.

Bambooland - Batmobile
Traditional rockabilly with a few psychedelic leanings. Too traditional to be of any real interest.

Amazons From Outer Space - Batmobile
Defines the band's style. Still too many elements of traditional rockabilly and country for the songs to stand out.

A Black Moon Broods Over Lemuria - Bal Sagoth
Original, Distinct, Shows signs of what was to come, the most sinister Bal-Sagoth album Not as accomplished as later Bal-Sagoth albums
