Very - Pet Shop Boys

Very to me is the quintessential Pet Shop Boys album that captures them at the peak of their songwriting capabilities. There isn't a dud in this collection of spankingly gorgeous pop tunes that are dripping with Neil Tennent's trademark irony and thought provoking lyrics. Its hard to pick out stand out tracks as each one rewards the listener on so many different levels, but personal favourites include 'One and One make Five', 'One in a Million' and the awesome single 'Can you forgive Her?' In my opinion, this is by far the best of the series of PSB albums. If you are going to buy this CD, look out for one of the original versions of it, as when it was first released, it came in an orange plastic box, which would not look out of place in a Lego kit. The newer version with the blue surround is simply not the same. Also, being a big PSB fan, I bought this CD on the day of release, and was lucky enough to get one of the Limited Edition versions, which was packaged in a plastic fold-out "bubble" wallet with a bonus CD, "Relentless", which has 6 totally excellent tracks, unavailable elsewhere.
