Advantages: Great for established classical AND other music fans as well as a great introduction for new fans.

This is a fantastic album for music fans. Although this is David Garrett's debut here in the UK, this doesn't do his career justice; he's had various other cds released in Europe and has been an acclaimed violinist from a young age. First picking up the violin at the age of four, when his elder brother took up the instrument, David ended up being a natural and eventually, as his album suggests, a virtuoso!

The album features popular classics, such as Pachelbel's 'Cannon' and 'The Flight of the Bumblebee' (for which David holds the world record for the fastest rendition), which means that it is a great record for people who like 'light' and popular classical music, as well as the average classical listener. Furthermore, David puts his own stamp on these songs, which makes the album very appealing; you aren't buying just another copy of these songs but another version of them. 'Canon' in particular is a fantastic version, as is Pagannini's 'Rhapsody', but really, they are all fantastic.

This album is great for other music fans too, with David covering the rock classic 'Nothing Else Matters', for example, and it's fantastic how he fuses rock and classical music and shows that it is great to appreciate various genres of music, for which his passion really comes across on the album. Furthermore, I feel that the music and David's image makes this album very accessible for younger fans, as well as older fans who are just getting in to classical music; it's a great introduction.

My favourites from the album are (although it's hard to chooses) the Gypsy Dance and Duelling Banjos, as well as Carmen Fantasie, on which he is accompanied by the fabulous guitarist Paco Pena.

There are also a couple of tracks here which are David's own compositions; 'Serenade' and 'Eliza's Song', which are also amazing tracks and it is certainly a credit to them that they can fall beside these classics and hold their own.

All in all, this is a beautiful album and is soon to be followed by his next, 'Encore' (already available in Europe and at some stores online in the UK), which also has a stunning track listing, again with a mixture of rock tracks by Queen, Michael Jackson and Acdc, as well as 'He's a Pirate' from Pirates of the Carribean, and classical tracks such as Vivaldi's Summer and Brahm's Hungarian Dance no. 5.
