Bjork trying out new styles of music with a classic spin

Now i know that Bjork isn't everyones cup of tea but i find her truly fascinating and one of the best and original musicians of our time. I think that she is terribly underrated by the general music buying public, and that also reflects on this album

Even though Volta charted at number 7 in the UK, i personally feel that it deserved to go higher.

Volta is Bjorks 6th full length studio album and is much diffrent from her previous work, esp her previous release "Medulla" which was soley based on sounds that can be created by the voice.

Volta comprises of 10 new studio tracks and sees Bjork working for the 1st time with her long time friend Timberland. I thought that she was selling out abit and was desperate for a chart hit single when i heard this news, but luckily i was wrong. Timberland wrote the lead single "Earth intruders" which is very haunting and has a killer tribal beat.

This album is very fast paced and isnt a serious piece of music like her previous effort, she says herself that she comes accross as quite Bombastic on this record and has developed quite a playfull ego.

The style of this album is a mixture of sensual sounding ballads to up tempo energy/electric trance. With the fans faveourite "Declare independance" which sounds like a modern version of the classic "Pluto" from her Post album

You can also buy the special limited edition of this album now which unfolds in mini envelopes and is truely amazing, features the whole album on a bonus DVD also with surround DTS sound. Looks amazing also when played as there is a new updated slideshow of pictures from the Volta photo-shoot.

Anthony Hegarty from indie band Antony and the Johnsons appears on the track "Dull flame of Desire" A beautiful ballad and totally amazing live.

      Earth Intruders
      Dull Flame Of Desire
      I See Who You Are
      Vertebrae By Vertebrae
      Declare Independence
      My Juvenile
I See Who You Are - Mark Bell Mix (bonus track)

I would highly suggest this album to any Bjork fan and anyone that is into a more experimental sound
