Advantages: Instrumentally hard hitting, vocally stunning.

Disadvantages: If you don't like screamed vocals you may not like this too much.

'War All The Time' is the third studio album from the American post-hardcore band that is Thursday. The album was released through Island records in 2003 and consists of eleven terrific tracks. Thursday vocalist Geoff Rickly screams and wails his way through this album in the most terrific style; there's a lot of passion behind his voice and always here his delivery is hugely powerful. From start to finish this album has much to offer, never does the Thursday sound fail to deliver and at all times the bands sound has you entirely captivated here.

The guitar work is brilliant, the drumbeats are phenomenal, and with such a ferociously hard hitting vocal style to boot; the music of Thursday never fails to shine here. 'War All The Time' is a great Thursday album and such tracks as 'For the Workforce, Drowning', 'Signals Over the Air', and title track 'War All The Time' really do pack a hefty wallop. 'For the Workforce, Drowning' is actually the opening track on this album; right from the offset you are thrown right into the heart of it all as the bands delectable musical style launches into action right from the word go.

The bands singer Geoff Rickly does scream a lot here, don't let this put you off if you're not much of a fan of screamed vocals though as I'm not either but the screams that Thursday's front man achieves here truly are exceptional. There are a few times when I wish the screaming would be lessened a little, for the most part the screaming is well measured here however and utilised to strong effect throughout this 'War All The Time' album. The vocal screams add depth to the sound, power to the performance; there's a fantastic energy in the bands music at all times here and lead vocalist Geoff Rickly is very much central to the succulence of Thursday's sound. The guitars riffs are very well worked here, the bass lines strong also, it's Thursday's vocal approach that will really impress you here however and as far as screamed vocals go; you won't find much better than this.

Without listening to the music of Thursday it would be all too easy to dismiss the band as just another major label generic emo band; Thursday is something far greater than this however and if you listen to the music you will most definitely understand this. There are a lot of poor post-hardcore bands out there, Thursday is not one of them however and the music of this band really is excellent to listen to. 'War All The Time' is a great album to put on and pump up the volume to, the bands sound will have you fist pumping in the air and singing along for sure. The guitar sounds are supremely strong and in all areas the instrumental element of Thursday's sound really is very well worked here. Not only is the music of Thursday vocally impressive but instrumentally excellent also and this is something which always is absolutely fantastic to hear,

'War All The Time' really is an excellent Thursday album, it's one that I really do enjoy listening to and every time I hear a track from this album I smile. There's 42 minutes of music here, not all of these are excellent but for most tracks present here I really do fail to find fault. The music is energetic, the sound is powerful, and vocally most markedly the music of Thursday is absolutely stunning. Give this album a listen, see what you think, and the chances are that you'll be highly impressed with what you find here with this fine album from Thursday.

Summary: 'War All The Time' is an impressive Thursday album I'd highly recommend investing in.
