There was a time when I considered Green Day to be amongst my favourite bands and whilst those times are now long gone I must admit that I do from time to time still give their music a listen. Released in 2000, 'Warning' was Green Day's sixth studio album and has achieved platinum status in America meaning that it has at least sold in excess of 1 million copies there. For me this album does not open very well at all and this perhaps goes some way to explaining why the album is the only major label release of theirs not to have achieved at least double platinum status in America. The title track 'Warning' opens up this album and truth be told I consider it to ... Read the complete review

Whether it be Ciao, Epinions or even Amazon on the odd occasion, you can’t fail to find someone who classes ‘Warning’ as different. Different in that it’s not perceived to be punk enough for some tastes. A gripe, if I had one, would be that there simply isn’t one definition to Green Day’s music, the rock opera concept of ‘American Idiot’, the truly raw punk edge of ‘Insomniac’ or the melodic graceful ‘Warning’, they all portray Green Day in differing light. Each is it’s own progression, progression from the previous that is more than welcome from a band now into their 30’s and happily married. The leaders of the ‘punk’ revolution they may have been, the band that knocked ... Read the complete review

GREEN DAY - WARNING -------------------- Green Day have been playing quality punk music since the late 1980's, with some classic fast paced punk songs such as Basket Case, Longview and When I come Around, in fact most of their songs could be summed up as three chords chart toppers. So it was quite a surprise for the fans when they released this album, which stepped away from the fast paced three chord electric guitars and thrashy drums, and introduced a more pop orientated offering, which brought the Acoustic guitars to the front and gave the band the chance to show their musical talent. Green Day first formed in the mid 80's when ... Read the complete review

Remember Green Day? The last time they graced listeners ears was back in '97 with the phenomenal 'Nimrod' album, and the first time people really cared about them was on their '94 major label debut 'Dookie', and believe it or not but that album has outstripped sales of Nirvana's 'Nevermind' album! Most people would penalise Green Day straight away for releasing a mellower album, particularly since the band's succesful formula is grounded in sub-riotous pop-punk, comprising of mainly maniacal and relational shouty lyrics by Billie Joe, and the maniacal rhythm section of Mike and Tre. In that respect, it seems the band are going ... Read the complete review

This album is not typical of Green Day. It actually came as a bit of a bit of a surprise to me. That's not to say that it's not good, because it's great. Green Day have grown up, and shown that there is more to their bow than three minute, three-chord songs. Enter harmonicas, accordions and dominatrixes with whips! If you've heard "Minority" then you'll know what to expect. It's a bit more mellow Green Day, with more acoustic guitars and strings. My personal favourite track is "Waiting" which sees Green Day in an unusually upbeat mood. Its typically Green Day rock, and it kick's ass. ... Read the complete review
