Advantages: Its Green Day,
Disadvantages: different to other green day albums, slight dissapointment
I must say that when I purchased warning I did have extremely high expectation from it. I men who wouldn't after many kick ass albums like Dookie and Nimrod. However must say it didn't seem quite like the old Green Day we used to know. Where are the punchy chord progressions and fast drum fills. Don’t get me wrong it a great album however I just think that I lacks the Green Day edge to it. The album was released this year and recorded in Oakland CA the album consists of 13 tracks which are as follows; 1. Warning 2. Blood, Sex and Booze 3. Church on Sunday 4. Fashion Victim 5. Castaway 6. Misery 7. Deadbeat Holiday 8. Hold On 9. Jackass 10. Waiting 11. Minority 12. Macy’s Day Parade 13. 86 (Live in Prague) The album has some better songs than others like every other album in the world but the best and my favourites are Warning and Minority, I think these two tracks are more like the old Green Day. The lyrics in the album are great as usual so not much of a change here but I think that they are trying to target a more mainstreamed audience with this album, its just a shame that this album was a bit of a disappointment to the old fans. Even the album cover however I think is not as good, even that’s different from the old Green Day, its just a picture. No more of the great cartoons they used to put on their front covers that you could look at for hours just wondering what the hell its all about. I don’t think album could really be classed as punk rock I think its more like pop. At the moment this disappointment is being covered by a good name, but I think the question we all want to know is will Green Day return to their old ways.( I hope so)
