Advantages: Variation of sounds, Takin the mickey out of people in true Green Day style, It's Green Day ;)
Disadvantages: Not their usual stuff., Purists will hate it (maybe), Some of the sogns are skippable
Warning is the latest Green Day with all new material. But, is this material worth putting on a cd? Some purists would say adamantly that Green Day have sold out and have become more poppy than they started out with. Maybe Green Day isn't just about the music? Maybe it's about their antics which can put a smile to our face? Maybe it's the way Mike and Tré believe that dogs are going to take over the world? It's the music plus all these things. I digress. The most heard tracks are Warning, Minority, Waiting and Macy's Day Parade. When I say that, I mean they are the ones that I have heard on the radio ;). The title track, which is the first cab off the ranks, is repeatative and a bit of bore after a while. I bought International Superhits before, so I think it is my right to skip it sometimes. Blood, Sex and Booze is featured on that movie "Freddie got fingered", I think. I love this song. I tell people it's my mother's theme song (Listen to it, read the lyrics. Scary, huh?). The chorus is the best, in my opinion. Church on Sunday is another of my favourites. The "pre chorus" I love. It's about making compromises in a relationship, or so I have read. The next track, Fashion Victim, is a dig at people who buy expensive designer clothes. WHAT'S IN A NAME...EH? I only like the next track, Castaway, because my crush can play it on the guitar :D. It has merit, certainly, and is loads of fun to sing to. Good beat, also. The stuff that happened in Misery actually happened. I like this song because when you sing it you can have good texture, going from quiet to loud. 'Tis fun. Some people may not like it though. With opening words like "Wake up, the house is on fire. And the cat's caught in the dryer." How could this song be anything but quirky? It's catchy and also fun to sing to. As a side note, Billie Joe&
#39;s cat died in the dryer. Hold on is a song for a friend. I only like the bit where Billie Joe sings a long note and Mike (I'm assuming it's Mike) joins in. I get weird looks when I sing it on my walkman. Jackass is [rumoured to be] about Blink 182. It's funny because if you listen to it as if it is about Blink, it makes sense. Green Day have said that they like Blink 182, but haven't said anything about their music. Waiting is sort of a ballady song. I always get it in my head and when I try to sing it, I get the verses mixed up :/ Minority is an awesome song to yell out with in a group. Very satisfying. Macy's Day Parade is about commericialism (I think). It uses acoustic guitar very well. I'm not a huge fan of it, but I don't hate it. My CD also came with two live tracks, Brat and 86, from the album Insomniac. The best part is in 86 when Billie Joe starts to sound like an old Adam Sandler. There. Go out and buy it.
