Advantages: Orinoco Flow

Disadvantages: None

Watermark opens up with the albums brilliant title track, and the cerebral and ambient mood which is created is an excellent introduction before the much darker and slightly brooding Cursum Perficio and just like that, within two tracks of Enya's breakthrough album we have enjoyed both extremes of her works.

By far the best track on the album is the heart warming Exile, which is as beautiful and sombre piece of music as you could ever hope to hear, especially with the inclusion of a pipe solo at the heart of the piece. Enya's biggest single success to date, Orinoco Flow is of course embedded into the heart of Watermark and the choice to use it as a single was fairly simple - the track is much more upbeat and prominent than the rest and there's no doubt it's a top track.

Something of note is that track 12, Storms In Africa was oddly excluded from the repressing of the album, and as such is only available on the vinyl and the original pressing of the CD (which I own). Such a shame because it's an excellent closing track to what is another highly impressive album which received the acclaim it deserved.
