Advantages: well put together, dreamy, different, moody, gaelic, not mainstream

Disadvantages: takes time to get into it

It took me a long time to get into Enya. I heard her singles - Orinoco Flow etc but it was a bit too dreamy for me - too clever.

Then back in 1993, we went over to the Isle of Man and had a barbeque in a restored thatched cottage. This album was playing on the stereo and it was perfect. A gaelic artist being played in a Gaelic cottage.

Since then I have bought 3 of her albums and have also got into Clannad.

Enya sings in English and Gaelic - the latter perfectly suited to the style of her compositions. She also manages to include the native Irish instruments. Some of the tracks are simply instrumental - but still equally as effective as those with a vocal.

I wouldn't do the album any justice by describing each track. However do listen to the title track, On your Shore and River to sample the different styles she uses.

This is a good album to listen to when writing opinions in the wee hours - as I am doing now !!

Strange woman Enya! Not my style of music but she's good at what she does.
