Alison Goldfrapp's debut is a stunningly evocative album that I fear will soon be associated with innumerable superficial tv adverts. The opening track, "Lovely Head" will be familiar to anyone who's seen that One-2-One advert with Gary Oldman in the diner. You'd be forgiven, on the basis of the advert, for dismissing it as coffee-table music, all style and no substance. Indeed, the first few listens of this album may not dispel that idea, either. I had never heard of Goldfrapp until a couple of weeks ago, when I was positively overloaded with them! Firstly I was happily reading 7 Magazine when an interview with Alison Goldfrapp sprung up. She talked about the possibility that she had 'sold out' by letting her song be used for a mobile phone advert. This intrigued me as to which advert it was... Orange, One to One, Vodafone, BT, hmmm?
