the future", and allows a glamorous decadence into the song. "Koko" does much the same thing, but with an added drum machine contributing small notes of percussion in the backdrop. Goldfrapp have taken on this album to the idea of packing their music with as much as they can, adding substance to the style they ve always attempted to exude. This continuing experimental side to the band slow them down on several occasions and make the album rather more patchy than it should be. For every chilled-out synth that "Number 1" has to offer, the band contrast it with the jarring "You Never Know". Whilst both songs operate around the same basic ...

Alison Goldfrapp's debut is a stunningly evocative album that I fear will soon be associated with innumerable superficial tv adverts. The opening track, "Lovely Head" will be familiar to anyone who's seen that One-2-One advert with Gary Oldman in the diner. There ...

I had never heard of Goldfrapp until a couple of weeks ago, when I was positively overloaded with them! Firstly I was happily reading 7 Magazine when an interview with Alison Goldfrapp sprung up. She talked about the possibility that she had 'sold out' by letting her song be used for a mobile phone advert. This intrigued me as to which advert it was... Orange, One to One, Vodafone, BT, hmmm? The very next day amazon.co.uk recommended her album to me. Bizarre coincidence I thought, heading straight for the sound samples. It sounded quite nice, in fact probably just the kind of chill out tunes I like at the moment. I was fairly interested then Nemone on Radio One ...

Carpet - Ceremonial Oath
Pleasant lead guitars, and an insight into the early years of melodic death metal.
It's all about the guitars, and even those aren't particularly stunning.

Marathonnerre I - Art Zoyd

Mostly boring.

Too similar to At the Gates.

Some club bangers
A few weaker tracks
