**Introduction**

I had heard a little about Jason Mraz before I saw him live on 28th June in Hyde Park as part of Hard Rock Calling. Although I knew of him I really didnt know much of his music. "We sing, we dance, we steal things" is his third album and is his most bold to date with a combination of pop, reggae, jazz and yes even hip hop. This combination makes him one of the most interesting solo artists around.

This album features contributions from James Morrison and Colbie Caillait. Without further ado here is my review of We sing, we dance, we steal things by Jason Mraz.

**The Album**

1. Make it mine

This catchy track starts the album with a brilliant flow as Jason Mraz sounds at ease with the vocals. The trumpets in the background provide the music with a nice character that comes together with the other instruments to create a very good song to start things off with.

2. I'm Your's

This is a very good fusion of pop and reggae that is chilled out and his voice sounds very fine indeed when it's this laid back. This is about both people in a relationship being there for your partner. A great track.

3. Lucky

This duet with Colbie Caillait is one of my favourite tracks on the album and is so relaxed that you might go into a dreamy state. A great song about finding the one with a great intimate quality. Both at their best on this track.

4. Butterfly

This was one of the songs I was instantly attracted to on my first few listens of the album. This song is about the sensual touch of a woman when you are getting it on.

5. Live High

This is a wonderful track with a nice slide guitar intro which then develops into a wonderful ballad about feeling good about yourself and your life. This song is completed by a fantastic choir towards the end of the song. Wonderful.

6. Love for a child

This song is a tear enducing gem of a song. In my opinion this is similar to what Bruce Springsteen and Jake Shears would come up with. A wonderful track about lost childhood and the sense of growing up too quickly.

7. Details in the fabric

This is a well worked duet with James Morrison, A very stripped down feel to this is due to the acoustic guitar and string background. I'm not that keen on James Morrison's music but This is a very fine song indeed and His parts arent that bad at all.

8. Coyotes

This shows his versatility as this is a Justin Timberlake like track with a funky bassline. This tracks works really well and is one of the best uptempo tracks on the album and the choir at the end is absolutely superb. There's even a little opera on the track too.

9. Only Human

An interesting intro of drums, guitar and keyboard draws you in to the track and this shuffling track will have great appeal to listeners.

10. The dynamo of volition

This contains some rapping by Jason Mraz which then turns into a superbly flowing authorative vocal that is complimented by the fine blend of funk, pop and electronica that makes the music some of the most interesting on the album.

11. If It Kills Me

This is probably the most interesting song on the album, It opens with a phone message from a Tri City Medical Centre for Jason Mraz and then the song develops into a lovely pop song about longing to be with someone and what you'd do to be with them.

12. A beautiful mess

What a stupendously good song to end on, this is a heartwrenching ballad. His voice sounds so emotive, just lie back with your eyes closed and just listen to this awesome track. what an ending to the album.

**Overall**

This really is an outstanding album and much like John Mayer's continuum this is Jason Mraz's breakout album, This album is an indication of his talent for songwriting, production and musicianship. A great range of genres on offer here and this is part of the reason it is so good. One of the artists to look out for over the next two or three years.

Summary: Great album,.
