Weathered - Creed
Advantages: Great mix and balance, excellent lyrics
Disadvantages: It was their last album
Creed were an American rock/indie band formed ion the early 1990s under the name Naked Toddler. Under the name Creed they released three studio albums before splitting. Their third album is this one, Weathered, and answered many critics who had slated them for their first two albums.
Weathered was released in 2001 to great critical and commercial acclaim. The album showed a good mix of heavy rock tracks and some lighter, mainstream commercial sounding indie records. This is when I first became aware of Creed, as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) used the track 'My Sacrifice' as the theme tune for the wrestler known as Edge. The track was successful as a single, as was 'One Last Breath'. The band also released the track 'Bullets' as a single, but this was their least successful single. IT is much heavier and would only have appealed to those more of a rock metal persuasion. I appreciate the quality of the track, but can completely understand why it was not successful as a single.
The remainder of the album is very well balanced. The title track, Weathered, is a thoughtful probe into losing and refinding yourself, and lyrically it is a tour de force in my eyes. I enjoyed the later tracks in the album moreso than the first four or so. Although they are all rather similar this did not bother me so much as I felt the lyrics justified this.
In conclusion, this is a well balanced album. It is a shame that Creed split up in 2004, with band members going off to do their own things. Just when the band had got it right, they finished recording. Still, I am glad to own Weathered, and I listen to it on a regular basis.

One Last Breath
Stand Here With Me
Don't Stop Dancing
One last point: The album debuted at number 1 on the billboard charts and actually stayed there for a phenomenal 8 weeks straight. This is a record that is held jointly with the Beatles. No other album has managed this! Thumbs up from me!
Summary: Creed get it right with Weathered
