The Doors & Expanded - Doors

Premium Review The best rock movie of all time (694 words)
by dave27 - written on 28/11/01 (Useful, 155 readings)
Rating:

surround the received wisdom. He's also a right pain in the a* for the US establishment and has done such stuff as JFK and Malcolm X. The Doors was one of his earlier films and paints a striking picture of rock music in the late Sixties. It focuses on The Doors and their brilliant, but controversial lead singer, Jim Morrison, played by Val Kilmer, whose face is eerily reminiscent of the Lizard King at his most beautiful. The subject matter was pretty much made for Stone's romantic, outlaw take on 60's Americana and he certainly does it full justice. Premium Review The ride of a lifetime! (312 words)
by Rumblefish - written on 28/12/00 (Very useful, 122 readings)
Rating:

memorably used cinematically by Francis Ford Coppola in 1979’s APOCOLYPSE NOW, and it is still a potently bleak and affecting composition today. The Doors would approach but never quite reproduce the sheer brilliance of their first album in the years that followed. It is essential listening for anyone with the sli ghtest interest in rock music, and a record brimming with emotion and sexuality. ...

Premium Review Come on baby light my fire (134 words)
by turnball - written on 28/03/01 (Useful, 312 readings)
Rating:

Light My Fire, The Doors is an album that really creates a stir. It’s a shame that two of the songs on the album are covers as Morrison, Krieger, Manzarek and Densmore show that they can actually write a good song or two. This LP is a good contender for the best Doors album. If you are looking for the most complete ...
