During Elvis' lifetime many albums were released by his record company RCA (now BMG), albums containing both new material, and previously released material. WELCOME TO MY WORLD was one of the albums which contained only 10 songs, 9 of which had previously been released. It was originally released in 1977, only a few months prior to The King's premature death.

Although fans at the time may have been disappointed by the regurgitating of previously released material, from the vantage point of 2008 all that matters is the music itself - is it worth listening to. And the answer to that is a resounding 'yes'. There are some wonderful songs on this album, including HELP ME MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT (a Kris Kristofferson country ballad), the title song WELCOME TO MY WORLD (originally recorded by Gentleman Jim Reeves), and the classic YOUR CHEATIN' HEART (originally made famous by Hank Williams).

At only 10 songs this is of limited worth, but the songs themselves are great and the album is well worth a listen.
