Songs From An American Movie, Vol. 2: Good Time For A Bad At ...

Rating:
Everclear's follow up to 'Songs From An American Movie, Vol. One: Learning How To Smile' is a much more pleasing album. Firstly they have returned to their much rockier style, and the opening track on the albm 'When it All Goes Wrong Again' (the American single) acts as a prompt for the rest of the album. Art Alexakis's lyrics are both real and thought provoking and combined with music that manages be much more solid than its predecessor, this album is both satifying and full of feeling at the same time. The Stand out tracks are definitely 'When It All Goes Wrong', 'Babytalk', 'Rock Star', 'Short Blonde ...

to complete the two disc ‘experience’ the last track on volume two is a sequel to the first track on volume one. Phew, if the music wasn’t just straight forward Everclear you could easily accuse the whole package of being a concept album. But what is straight forward Everclear music? Normally it’s a combination of Grunge, Punk and Rock. Somewhere around later Metallica/Foo Fighters/The Offspring/Nirvana. If you like rock music then there’s a very good chance you’ll like Everclear. They have occasionally strayed from the formula, as I touched on above, Songs From An American Movie – Vol. One is a much more relaxed album with a ...

offer. Art yells, “What makes you think you are so special?”. The angst burns to a climatic finale. ‘Normal like you’ is arrogant but bullish. Everclear don’t want to be like you, because you are an air-headed fuckup. Or so they say :) Some of this album is filler, and maybe they would have been best releasing the better 4 or 5 tracks as an EP but as a whole it is still very much enjoyable and worthy. Maybe you could record these from a friend, but then that would be illegal, so don’t do it you naughty kids - buy it instead! Everclear straddle a ...
