The Arctic Monkeys were the hot new band a couple of years ago and their music had a youthful frenetic quality to it combined with some excellent vocals and a strong live prescence, I even dragged myself out of the dance tent at Glastonbury to see them on stage and it was well worth the effort.

Whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not was their dubut album and it is a raw colection of indie rock music with some stand out tracks. Hailing from Doncaster and Sheffield the band tend to write about things that effect their lives so there are plenty of songs about drunken nights out, run in with bouncers and attempts to pull women.

I bet you look good on the dancefloor is the debut hi and the second track on the album, this has a stop start quality and is noted for its strong guitar lead and an almost live quality in the way it was recorded. Another favourite off this album for me is Dancing Shoes which is a song about a night out and a little slower in tempo and you can really hear the Yorkshire accen of the lead singer. I like it when you can detect accents rather than the singer trying to sing with an American accent all of the time.

The great thing about this album is that there is not really a weak track on it, there are some good changes of pace and a nice variation in the beats used, it is not all high energy high tempo tracks and there are some good changes of pace and plenty of tracks to sing along to or you can just have a good jump around and let your hair down.

Summary: Great debut album.
