Advantages: It is simply a brilliant album

Disadvantages: Noel Gallagher wrote the lyrics, making some of them a bit weird

This 1995 Oasis release was the album which had everyone talking at the time. It was a must have album then, and if you ask me it should be a must have album now. It is Oasis at their best. If you don't think much of them now and have never heard this then do so, as it will probably make you reconsider.

The album is basically ten tracks with two small, untitled instrumentals bridging gaps. The tracks are top quality soundwise, although Noel Gallagher's lyrics (as always) leave a bit to be desired.

The tracks are well ordered. "Hello" is the natural starting point and "Champagne Supernova" is a rousing climax. Add in "Roll With It", "Wonderwall" and a lot more quality tracks and you have what was for me the album of the 1990s. Varied is so many ways, it is brilliant and to try and describe the sound leaves you searching for words. You just know it sounds great.

It was brilliant when it was released and it still sounds just as good today.
