Advantages: Phenomenal from start to finish in every way
Disadvantages: None whatsoever - the perfect album
You know how every so often you hear an album where every single track is outstanding? The sort of album where you wish it was twice as long? They are rare, but when one comes along, it's all we can do to stop ourselves from playing it for months on end. (What's The Story) Morning Glory is one of those godly albums. Possibly the very best one.
Every track seems to improve on the last. The album opens with the charged 'Hello'. Power and excitement ooze from the band, and the song makes an immediate impression, setting the tone for things to come.
'Roll With It' is a classic Oasis track - sublime guitar, roaring vocals and a raw energy. A perfect build up to their biggest hit.
'Wonderwall' is perfection. Slower paced than mostof the album, but has that elusive musical bond where everything gels together to create a beautiful sound. One of my favourite ever songs.
'Don't Look Back In Anger' is a tribute to the ability of Noel Gallagher. An amazing song, with wonderful vocals and stunning guitars - arguably the best song he has ever written.
'Hey Now' is one of the album's weaker songs, but is still incredible - would be considered a greatest hit by most bands. Great vocals from Liam, whose energy carries throughout the song like an infectious beat.
'Some Might Say' is again one of the band's greatest songs. Quality lyrics, highly charged, stunning vocals and screaming guitars - you'll just want to hear it again and again.
Up next is 'Cast No Shadow'. This wonderful song shows a difference in styles, being slower, but superbly written and another great sound.
'She's Electric' is an Oasis classic, with flowing lyrics, again wonderfully sung, and incredible guitars.
'Morning Glory' is the anthem on the album - astounding energy, and fully deserving of the album's title track, when a whole host of others could easily have laid claim to it.
The final track, 'Champagne Supernova' is simply amazing. The lyrics are meaningful, the singing is fantastic, and the music is just sublime. A perfect finish.
You cannot afford to miss out on this album. It is as close as music comes to flawless. Astonishingly high quality from beginning to end, you will play it over and over, and discover new parts to fall in love with every time. The energy of the band pours out of every song, and you can feel their heart and soul in each second of music. From electric anthems, to classic hits, to perfect lyrics to slower, stupendously good songs, (What's The Story) Morning Glory had everything. I've run out of words to describe just how good this album is. If you don't have it yet, you need it. Now.
Summary: Astonishingly good. You need to own it.

- 15/05/09 I hate this album with a passion - personally I could never see the "brilliance" of the Gallagher brothers because all of the tunes on this album sound as though they were stolen from the Beatles and Stones back catalogues. That and everywhere I went during my teenage years some yobbo was drunkenly shouting the chorus of Don't Look Back in Anger... |

- 28/01/09 Fantastic album! I was given it as a present when it first came out about 13 years ago and still listen to it alot. I was only about 7 when it came out |

- 28/01/09 Not a patch on their first album, or even The Masterplan, although Some Might Say ranks as one of their best. |
