Oasis - Whats The Story Morning Glory

So, this is widely said to be one of the greatest albums of all time. So is it? Well in my opinion it is, but that's just my opinion. There are so many massive tracks on this album, it really does everything a great album should. Keeps you interested from the very start and there is always something that appeals as you listen along.

Think the best way to review this album is to break it down into the individual songs, so here is what I think of em!

1. Hello - A great start, fades in quietly then explodes into life. Is a great song played live, makes you jump around plenty. The Chorus 'Hello Hello, its good to be back' really signals the bands intent to blow there audience away over the next hour or so of music! 8/10

2. Roll with it - Very well known song, 'you gotta say what you say, don't let anybody get in your way' really sums up the motto of the band. This song encapsualtes there whole sound! 8/10

3. Wonderwall - Noel reckons the words in this song are trash! He may be right but it must me one of the most played and recognisable songs ever! Its simply brilliant, brilliantly simple! Pure bliss! 10/10

4. Don't look back in anger - Another instant classic, not quite as rock as some tracks but still ticks all boxes. The song starts with the brilliant lyric 'slip inside the eye of your mind' you can sing this a million times without realising what a magical statement it really is! A magical song! 9/10

5. Hey Now - Not quite as lyrical as some songs, but still powerful 'I hitched a ride with my soul by the side of the road' still a very nice little image it conjours up. 7/10

6. Intermisson - Nice bit of filler

7. Some Might Say - Again some of the lyrics in this song are lousy! But its musical rythem, simple beats and sounds all pull together to make it something special. This was Oasis' first big hit and really made it big for the band! Awesome powerful rock!! 10/10

8. Cast No shadow - A chilled out accoustic song. Still a good one, not quite with the power of wonderwall though. 6/10

9. She's Electric - A cheesy lil number. But another classic, never released but still gets lots of airplay. Some stupid lyrics again, but somehow they work!! 8/10

10. Morning Glory - Fast, powerful, brilliant! This song is probably the heaviest on the album, and it really is a cracker! Simple riffs and beats but all come together to make it a classic. 9/10

11 - Intermission

12. Champagne Supernova - Well, what an end to an album. This is a whopping 7 and a half mins, but it blows you away. 'Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball' is the stand out lyric. Is clearly all about drugs, but as such a beautful haunting song, this is one of the bands best attempts at perfection! 10/10

Overall a wonderful album, there are so many classic songs on this album, its always been one of my favorites, and always makes the top ten lists you see. Noel cites the Beatles as one of his main influences and yuo can see this throughout the album. A real work of genious!

Overall rating 9/10
