It was during my second visit to Reading Festival that I first came across Seafood. They were quite a way down the bill on the Sunday in 2001 on the Radio 1 stage so we decided to head in there and see them. I hadn’t heard of them at all before hand, but afterwards I was incredibly impressed by what I’d just heard. So after the festival, in fact I think the very next day, I went into MVC and picked up a copy of this, their second album. I’ve since bought the previous album, Surviving The Quiet and the follow up As The Cry Flows. I still maintain that this is the South London bands best album to date. Ever since i heard 'Led By Bison' by Seafood, i had them pigeon holed as a nice little indie band who do pleasant little ditties about life, etc. Then i heard 'Cloaking'. Wow! what a departure!! having more to do with lo-fi US alt. rock like Black Flag, Weezer and Sebadoh to name but a few, 'When Do We Start Fighting...' is a piece of work! I saw them at the leeds festival too- they were class, even though the bass amp broke down mid set! anyways, the album is totally brilliant and rocks out, with even a hint of Radiohead- esque experimentation (don't worry Radiohead haters, this album certaintly isn't Amnesiac or Kid A).
