Christmas With The Rat Pack - Frank Sinatra

Premium Review Christmas classics from the Rat Pack (302 words)

Now may seem like an unsuitable time to be reviewing a Christmas album, but it s still chilly enough out to enjoy the effortless fireside charm of Dean Martin, F Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr on this cool Christmas collection. Tracks are taken from a range of sources (archives, live television broadcasts and the like) and the recording quality is very good. The producers have taken great care with the ordering and the crooners merge from one track to the next with consumate style. I initially bought this record for my Grandmother (sadly now deceased), but made sure to grab a listen before handing it over. I thought that she d jump at the chance to hear some of these ...

My Way: The Best Of Frank Sinatra - Frank Sinatra

Premium Review Frank does somethin' stupid to me. (726 words)

Things don't change do they? I was about 6, my Dad was waxing lyrical about F Frank Sinatra "Frank's the man, you know." Looking at the dog eared cover of his 33rpm vinyl. "Yeah, Yeah, whatever " I would think (or words to thay effect mid seventies speak...)If it wasn't Frank it was Elvis, if it wasn't Elvis it was Ella. So here I am 30 years later telling my 8 year old that "Frank is the man, you know" "Yeah right Mum.." he patronises. My Dad passed away 6 years ago,I inherited his beloved, well used record collection (not a CD in sight) it was Frank, Elvis, Frank, Ella, oh and a bit of Frank in there too - ...

We all know who F Frank Sinatra was, presumably. Probably the greatest and certainly the most popular crooner of all time. From the 40s to the 70s he was consistently successful, enjoying probably his greatest popularity in the late 50s, the Ratpack era. His work is easy listening and proud of it as he croons away in his laid back fashion. Obviously some people will see his music as too old-fashioned to bother with, but that's their loss, really. I think he's fantastic and have done for years. He's one of the old school pop musicians who didn't write their own material. This is fine by me, although some people insist on believing that people have to write ...
