From Time To Time: The Singles Collection - Paul Young
by benlepensive - written on 25/02/09 (Useful, 6 readings)
Rating:
As the first person to review this album on here, it gives me pleasure to say Paul s voice has helped me at many difficult a time through the years, to overcome self doubt and believe in myself. His warm tones always lift the spirits and this greatest hits is a reminder of just how wonderful his work is. Who is he: Bedfordshire based Paul was at his peak in the eighties, quiet of late, making a brief appearance on a reality tv cooking programme. On this album: Everytime You Go Away gets things off to a great start. His voice reminds me of a dog in pain, as he hold onto those notes and seems to howl the lyrics with such misery in his voice. Products similar to Wherever I Lay My Hat: The Bes...
The Unexpected - Beautiful Sin
Power metal that balances melody and heaviness.
Female vocals are occasionally unimpressive, and the Helloween "cover" is plain cheeky.
The Scream - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Original for its time, highly influential
Certainly not to everyone's tastes.....
The Acoustic Adrian Belew Vol.1 - Adrian Belew
You may be a fan of acoustic albums.
Dull and repetitive, with weak material.
Teknowhore - Bile
More atmospheric and compelling than the previous album.
Some bizarre commercial deviations that don't sit well, and generally overlong and tedious.
State Of Control - Barren Cross
A more finely-honed performance, introducing progressive elements.
Glam tendencies remain to spoil it.
Io Sono Nato Libero - Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso
Higher production values and continuation of the classical style.
Structural problems from the first album are back in full force, spoiling all songs to some extent.
His Last Walk - Bless The Fall
If you really, really need to hear some more emo.
Sounds the same as everything else.
Grind Bastard - Benediction
Catchy, riff-driven death metal, with some interesting classic rock/metal covers.
Sound is repetitive, and the album perhaps lasts a little too long for its style.
Coronation Thieves - Dragons of Zynth
Pop - 2007
Blindside - Blindside
A less aggro-centric Slipknot with slightly more musical ability.
Nothing original, merely an obvious smorgasbord of influence.
