Metallica - Metallica

Premium Review Black (and good) as Hell (96 words)

Rating:

music industry to Metallica (not the other way around). They sound darker and more immense than ever, with every member of the band pulling out all the stops. The songs are all there (especially ‘Enter Sandman’, ‘The Unforgiven’ and ‘Sad But True’) and it is the sound of four of the best ...

Metallica - Metallica

Premium Review None more black (240 words)

Metallica's eponymous album of '91 (most commonly referred to as 'black album') saw an almost turning point in Metallica's career. 'Enter Sandman' alongside Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' is probably one the most catchiest and most memorable heavy pop songs from the early 90's; it was only a taster of what the other 11 tracks had in store. 'Sad But True' continues on with it's ultra heaviness and introspective ...

Load - Metallica

Premium Review Shooting from the hip (145 words)
by B0nfire - written on 13/06/00 (Very useful, 27 readings)
Rating:

the Black Album, Metallica released Load to a mixed reception. People attacked it for being too different, and for 'betraying their fans.' Rubbish. I would hope that any serious musician matures in five years, and Metallica are no exception. While I admit that this doesn't grab you in the same way as their ...
