Advantages: Huge diversity & some amazing songs

Disadvantages: Perhaps could have been a few tracks shorter

There is such a huge mix of stuff on here, at first it can be a little daunting. I first heard this album when I was 8, but I didn't get into it properly till much later.

Encompassing everything from country (Rocky Racoon), music hall ballads (Honey Pie), to avant garde offerings (Revolution 9) and comedy 'Piggies', this album has a bit of everything, & thats probably what makes it so good.

'Helter Skelter' shows a new, heavier side to the band, yet the overpowering feeling is one of individualism. A lot of the tracks sound like solo offerings, apparently 'Yer Blues' is the only track that definitely features all four Beatles. Yet somehow it works, as one, long, sprawling work - it likely could have worked better as a single album, rather than a double, yet the member's ego's probably wouldn't have allowed it.

George Harrison also comes into his own with a few strong tracks, again, like with the rest of the album, not of it fits together, yet somehow it works, spectacularly so.

Summary: Vast collection of influences, thrown together with spectacular results
