Advantages: Something and someone different in a world of manufactured pop., A good reworking of Say Hello Wave Goodbye by Soft Cell at the end.

Disadvantages: Becomes monotonus somewhere in the middle., Some truly classic tracks among some really lame stuff.

David Gray exploded into our attention. Having struggled for years, his almost totally self-penned album White Ladder, became an instant hit. With the singles Babylon and Please Forgive Me, he came to prominence in 2000. White Ladder is an album at which folk purists may cringe, but this collection of catchy songs on a bed of computer-generated drum beats remains one of the finest releases of 2000. Gray scored a bona-fide radio hit with the single Babylon. Please Forgive Me has an energy to this song that gets me tapping my foot, moving my head, and typing in rhythm to the drum machine beats.

This is not a rock album, this is not a pop album, this not a dance album, this not an alternative album or a classical album, it is elements of all the above. There is something on this CD, for everyone. After listening to the eleven tracks, you will want more of this prolific artist.
