After the successful 1998 Left Of The Middle album, ex Neighbours actress Natalie Imbruglia returns with White Lilies Island. I was a big fan of Natalie, I thought Left Of The Middle was a great album and the song Torn is one of my all time favourtie songs. This album was launched quite silently and under a bit of a cloud, I think this (or most of this) was completed years ago (1999) and there were rumours that Natalie demanded more pay before this could be released. Anyway the album is here now, and after a quiet launch, this has all the controversy it was promising. No not because of the excellent artistry, but because this is/was one of the first ... Until recently whenever people spoke to me about a certain CD being the only thing they ever listened to I used to scoff at them. “Hah!” I’d say, “You mean you don’t have different CDs for different moods that you get in?, fool!”. But that was then and this is now – by now I mean this second that I’m typing this. For you see I’m listening to White Lilies Island by Natalie Imbruglia, that’s not the strange thing though, apart from the odd flirtation with my Dot Allison, Nelly Furtado and Bond Albums I’ve been completely devoted to listening to White Lilies Island – mainly because its, so, so, good! ... After a very successful debut year, i think it was Natalie's decision to make a more different album and not to come back with such an obvious commerical track such as Torn but to go with something different and risque to gain possibly credibility, such as That Day. The album was launched off the song That Day, it did semi well - didn't set the world alight. The song was quite average to be honest and is a good intro to this album. It's not just a pop album, you can tell Natalie feels this type of music and feels comfortable. I think obviously Wrong Impression, is a classic song - very catchy and summery and sweet, obviously very good and probably saved the ... Read the complete review

This is Natalie?s second album and it has been a while since her last album what raised her to being a chart success. But with this album she has dramatically changed her style as none of the tracks had that pop feel about them like her last album. I could only say that this album falls into the Alternative category as it is like a mix of pop, rock, indie and a little bit of a country feel in places to boot. Because of this, this album may be one that only fans of her may want to add to their collection. I know that in her past her first fame to claim was in neighbours but I never watched it and as such know only little of it. Saying this she is not ... Read the complete review

It would be no understatement to say that this album has been greatly anticipated and not only by Natalie’s fans, many have been waiting to see what she has to offer as a follow up to her hugely successful debut album, “Left Of The Middle”. A line in this album’s sleeve by Natalie reads, "It took me a while but I got there in the end", but the time she has taken to craft this album has been worth the wait and she has delivered a well polished gem. This album is superior to its predecessor (some will say surprisingly) and while rumours have been rife since her last hit, it is a reflective and honest offering, whose lyrics and mood offer ...
