Advantages: You've now got one of the top 5 Who albums
Disadvantages: Moonie's last
Moonie's last album. His final drum roll. But what a way to finish. His drumming on the track Who Are You is phenomenal, pounding the skins for all he was worth. He'd cut back on drugs, drink and the rock n roll life style, and Who Are You the album is all the richer for it. (The title track is my favourite, as I've often "preached from my chair." Look.. I'm doing it now. Spooky.) A great long slice of excellent RnB, rock and roll, categorise it however you will, this is the track that from the first few chords reaches into your chest and pulls your heart out, while simultaneous forcing your head to bang in time to the beat. Watch yourself when listening to it in public. Anyhow, it appears as the last track, but make sure you listen to this one first. Having said all that about Moonie's drumming, he doesn't appear on "Music Must Change" at all, and the percussion sounds in the background of the track are made by the sound of a coin falling and Pete walking round in circles. All good stereos will also share the squeaks of his soles with you too. A good tune to belt out all the same, and Roger does it with much gusto. Some lovely guitaring as well. "Trick Of The Light" is an excellent grinding sort of rock track, and for a change this was written by John. It's about a man worrying about his sexual performance, but don't let that put you off it. "Goodbye Sister Disco" is great to dance along to. No, really. Well, maybe a few beers first... The first two tracks are probably the weakest on the album, but none of them are really dross. Although "905" is different. It's about experimentally-raised babies. Back in 78 that was considered very odd. Anyhow, another must for would-be Who fans. And for those who don't know, the "not to be taken away" refers to the front cover shot of Keith sitting on a chair that co-in
cidentally had it stencilled onto it's seat back. He died a few months later. Much missed.
