Live At The Brixton Academy - Faith No More

Rating:
rap, part je ne sais quoi - enjoyed a lot more mainstream success after the release of this album through singles like the Commodores cover "Easy". But this is Faith No More at their finest. It includes the last great songs written by the group, namely "Epic", "From Out of Nowhere" and "We Care A Lot", the latter almost certainly being their finest hour. Added to this they also throw in lyrics from Technotronic and New Kids On The Block, instantly dating the record of course but giving it a nice time capsule feel. Roses made popous and flouncy pieces of navel gazing music (I'm not trying to say that they where any less that perfect for the era which they came from :) Faith No More experimented in ways which no other mainstream band would dare. On this album we can here the delicate strains of piano next to extremely heavy riffing and somehow it actually works well ! Mike "Puffy" Bordin's drumming is still amazing to me to this day, he seems to be endlessly imaginative in the his Tribal rhythms. Anyone that can make War Pigs sound better than the original cannot be considered anything less than magnificent (and this comes from someone who first experienced ...

once again features metal guitars, funk bass and synths. Don’t let that fool you into thinking that the album gets dull though. Metal and funk are fairly large genres and Faith No More are a good enough band to keep everything interesting. Some classic lyrics are found in this song, including “Droplets of yes and no in an ocean of maybe”. Great song. * Surprise! You’re Dead! * Once again Faith No More wonder dangerously close to novelty appeal and this punk metal track. The vocals either consist of a Patton going “Surprise!” a whole bunch of people going “You’re Dead!” and then Patton laughing or just Patton ...
