Their brand of folk music on this album and the ones which would follow tends ... more  ... to have some heavy riffs in the background often barely audible, a lot of flute playing and various other instruments - violin, harp etc which leads to a medieval type sound.
They remind me a little bit of the Czech band Braagas except the band are not quite as creative and the vocals which sound quite chirpy and almost like a German crooner wear thin after a while, with the novelty soon disappearing. The band seemed to have a bit of a cult status with players of the game Harvest Moon - don't ask me why!

Wie Pech Und Schwefel is an album from early 2005 by German band Schandmaul. Schandmaul tend to dress in dark clothing and attend metal festivals yet rarely actually delve in to the realms of heavy metal, whilst they do play folk and the folk is often quite dark - there's not much heavy guitar playing going on. That's not to say they are a bad band - not at all.
