Advantages: Consistent throughout

Disadvantages: couple of rushed tracks towards the end

This album was the first CD I ever bought, I had all the other Beatles albums on cassette, but had stuck with my Dad's original vinyl edition.

This album was in our house my whole life, & as such is the first I ever heard in full, it contains no singles, but is a prime example of the early Beatles - magnificent harmonies, exuberant energy, well chosen Motown covers, versatility & George Harrison's songwriting debut ('Don't Bother Me').

The fabulous cover photograph by Robert Freeman was considered very arty for the time - certainly compared with the goofy cover of 'Please Please Me', & this album demonstrates a growing maturity, which would grow with each album all the way through to the studio masterpieces of 'Revolver' & 'Sgt. Pepper'.

This has always been a personal favourite, & I can listen to it pretty much from top to bottom, even the obligatory Ringo Track is good value.
