I think I remember how I first became a fan of Shania's... a fell in love with a guy when I was much younger and he was a fan of hers so foolishly, I decided to do a few things i wouldn't have normally and tried to like a few of the things he liked... one being Shania Twain. I had heard a lot of her songs from compilation albums so I bought 'Come on Over'. I loved the CD but wanted more so started looking back over her career and the CD releases she already had. 'The Woman In Me' has to be my second favourite after 'Up'. Who is Shania? Her real name is Eilleen Regina Edwards and she was born in Canada. At the age of 2 she became Eilleen Twain and ... Okay, so the my title has little to do with my opinion but it's the only thing I could think of. FYI I have the re-released version of this album, the one with the full "God Bless the Child" video on (not the version pictured). Before you ask this is not traditional country music. It's more of a mix of upbeat country and pop (but more of the former and less of the latter) with a few ballads thrown in for good measure. The album opens with a ballad, the brilliant duet "Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore)" with Shania and her husband Mutt. This song can be a real tear-jearker if you're in the right mood. Shania then ... Read the complete review

Shania Twain, born Eileen Edwards in Windsor Ontario Canada, raised the Ojibwa Indian cultural way by her adopted father Jerry Twain and mother Sharon, with her two sisters and two brothers. They lived in a small town called Timmins in Ontario, She worked in a reforestation business owned by her father, from the age of 17-21, but would often be found singing in the local bars and clubs from a very young age. Her parents were killed in a car crash when she was just 21, leaving her to take charge of the family, to make money she relied more on the singing in bars as the main income. In 1990 she adopted the name of SHANIA from a local Ojibwa ... Read the complete review

This album has recently been repackaged to make the most of Shania's rise to fame. You may notice the 'big hair' picture on the front has been scrapped for a more familiar look! This album is far more country oriented than Come On Over, and may not appeal to those who like the more poppy sound. However, I personally like it a lot, there are some great ballads on there, long with a few tongue-in-cheek numbers like "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under", a country title if ever I heard one. The album is a good deal shorter than Come On Over, but thats probably because there are less filler tracks on here. Overall, a good album, ... Read the complete review

This album is Shania Twain while she was a lady of country before she was polished up for MTV. From the zingy Whose bed have your boots been under to the glorious God bless the child via the rocking If it don't take two, I much prefer this album to her other two. I notice that the illustration with this review is not the same as the CD I bought from ASDA - it seems they have repackaged this album and unteased the ladies hair! Yes indeed, checking the label it does say enhanced version with three bonus tracks. ... Read the complete review
