Advantages: Three or four decent tracks

Disadvantages: A number of average or below average tracks

The was Erasure's first studio album, released in 1986 & contains the following tracks:-

01) Who Needs Love Like That:
Originally a chart flop when it was first released, it made number 10 when it was remixed & re-released in 1992.
It's a rather, catchy opening number with a strong vocal from Andy &, im my opinion, better than the 1992 remix.

02) Reunion:
Mid-tempo number about a couple getting back together in which Andy sings "Reunion, together this time, Reunion, forever be mine" a little too often for my liking.

03) Cry So Easy:
Another mid-tempo number which, like Reunion, is a little repetitive in parts. Overall though it's an improvement on that track.

04) Push Me, Shove Me:
Clocking in at 5 minutes 10 seconds this is longer than the average Erasure song from this period. The instrumental break is perhaps a bit too long but the backing track is catchy & the song itself is one of the stronger ones on the album.

05) Heavenly Action:
Another single which was released & then flopped in the UK chart. It's a slice of pop exuberance & wouldn't sound out of place on their second album, The Circus, although, like Reunion, the chorus is perhaps used a little too often.

06) Say What:
This is one you'll probably love or hate. There's a bit more of a drum programme & a few shouty background vocals that may or may not annoy you depending on your taste. The lyrics are nothing to write home about but, having said that, I've got a bit of a soft spot for it.

07) Love Is A Loser:
A slightly annoying intro, repeated during the instrumental break might put you off this track & the backing track is a bit more "intrusive" than some others on this album. As with, Say What, the lyrics are nothing to write home about.

08) Senseless:
This song sounds a bit lifeless. It's not a ballad & it's not really an uptempo number. It's stuck in some sort of dodgy middle ground and Andy may as well be singing about paint drying for all the interest that it raises.

09) My Heart....So Blue:
The slowest song on the album is a complete & utter snooze fest. Possibly only useful as a cure for insomnia......

10) Oh L'Amour:
Another track that was released as a single & which failed to chart, although a cover version by Dollar reached number 7 in the UK when it was released in 1987.
This starts of rather slowly but then moves up a gear & becomes a contender for the best song on the album.

11) Pistol
This is another track that people will either love or hate. Andy's voice sounds rather good throughout but I've no idea at all what the lyrics mean & the backing track has the potential to become a bit annoying.

12) Say What (remix)
Remix of track 6

13) March On Down The Line (remix)
The longest track on the album, it's a bit too long & is repetitive in parts. The backing track is decent enough but the lyrics are not up to much.

14) Senseless (remix)
Remix of track 8

I don't think anyone would claim that this was Erasure's strongest album. Vince Clarke wrote 3 of the songs on his own, Andy wrote 1 & the remainder where a collaboration between the two of them. It would appear that the two of them were still searching for their own style of music & hadn't quite got to where they wanted to be. Probably mainly of interest if you want to see how Erasure were developing before "Sometimes" set them onn the road to chart success.

Summary: Purchase only if you want to hear how Erasure sounded at the very beginning
