Advantages: Lots of good songs, good party music

Disadvantages: A few weak tracks

This is the Stereophonics' first album, and I think it is much better than the much more popular follow-up, 'Performance and Cocktails', as there are more memorable songs, and the collection has got more momentum. Although there are a few weak tracks in the middle, it is generally brilliant from beginning to end, starting with the cheerful, melodic 'Thousand trees' and ending with the melancholy, low-key 'Billy Davey's Daughter'. The group does not seem to be seeking critical approval, and sound much better for it as this is an up-tempo collection where every track will have you singing along after a couple of listens, with fantastic melodies and Kelly Jones' clever lyrics and powerful, distinctive voice.

Even if you don't like rock music, I would reccomend this album as the melodies are definately the main attraction to the album, and the backing is never that heavy despite the group referencing AC/DC and other metal groups as influences.
