Premium Review Worldwide Underground - Erykah Badu: Takin' Ya Down To The Underground (961 words)
by - written on 25/07/09 (Very useful, 30 readings)
Rating:

Released in 2003, "Worldwide Underground" came as the third album by the Neo-Soul singer Erykah Bad and finds her doing more to combine a variety of alternative genres to come up with something fresh to ad to the diversity of modern R&B as she introduces more of her Soul work to Hip Hop, Jazz and Funk to come up with such innovative material. 1. "World Keeps Turnin'" (Intro) 2. "Bump It" Getting straight into the grooves this one has her powering through with some Hip Hop-inspired work as she jumps on heavy beats and lays down her own interpretation of classic Fat Boys material before getting down the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review World Wide Underground... BUMP IT! (423 words)

Godflesh - Godflesh
Pioneered industrial metal. Forgettable songs.

Always - The Gathering
Interesting use of obscure instruments, effective gothic atmosphere. Seems amateurish by comparison to later works in the genre.

Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam - Gorgoroth
Competent performance. Lacking in ideas.

Antichrist - Gorgoroth
Great incorporation of subtle melody. Shorter still.

Incipit Satan - Gorgoroth
Something different. Infernus should stick to his day job.

Under The Sign Of Hell - Gorgoroth
Hellish and still experimental. Focus on overt aggression begins in earnest.

Collateral Defect - Graveworm
Range of styles for the modern mainstream metal fan. None are executed particularly well.

Legacy Of Kings - HammerFall
More of the same, if you enjoyed it. More of the same, if you didn't.

Morphosis - Hate
Interesting mix of melody and heaviness without going down the usual route. Feels stifled.

Fury & Flames - Hate Eternal
Break neck head slamming speed Repetitiveness, too intense at times, needs more variety
