Having had a chance to listen to Kylie's tenth record X, I've had a bit of rethink. Initially, I was disappointed by its lack of initial warmth, and of course its lack of insight. After all, if she could muse about depression and loss on her 1997 album Impossible Princess when nothing too notably bad had happened to her, surely a brush with death through her breast cancer diagnosis would be enough to allow an insight into what ails one of pops most enduring and loved superstars. 20 years after her first record sold a trillion copies, Kylie's new album is effectively business as usual. There is nary a nod to any of her recent break up troubles, or her ... Read the complete review

After putting her career on hold to battle breast cancer Kylie has certainly made up for lost time as she continues her quest for world domination. There was the re-scheduled tour, a children's book 2 perfumes and another one set for next year, not to mention modelling swimwear for H&M and the Kylie exhibition (now in Glasgow) and a return to acting in Doctor Who. After celebrating 20 years in music her 10th studio album is probably her most hotly anticipated and comes four years after "Body Language" Most Kylie fans will already have heard the "kylie X Pre album" which was put on torrent sites months ago (and is still widely ... I've never been a huge fan of Kylie, only when I was younger. I was probably around 8 when Kylie first released her first single I Should Be So Lucky and when you are an 8 year old girl, she was someone that I looked up to at that particular time however grew out of it very quick. Although over the years she has come up trumps with some great tracks and a couple of bad ones too, but I have never thought of purchasing one of her albums, until now. X was released in November 2007, her first album back since 2003 and what a hit it has been. We are all aware of Kylie's battle with breast cancer and this courageous woman has come back onto our radio's ... Read the complete review

After a long and highly anticipated journey back to the spotlight, including her huge, sell-out Homecoming tour, Kylie Minogue hopes to X-cite us with her latest offering, "X". This is a good album, but regardless of how good it was, it was always unlikely to match up to the hype surrounding her comeback. Following her electro-based style on from 2003s "Body Language" as opposed to returning to more pure, effortlessly catchy pop a-la 2001s "Fever" album has left the album a little undefined, somewhat sterile, where Minogue's passion, soul and excellent voice can hardly be heard. With collaborations from big names such ... Read the complete review

Three years after her last album, Kylie Minogue's tenth studio album is a poignant milestone in the musical career of a lady who few predicted would maintain any longevity. After a much-publicised battle against breast cancer, X does indeed mark the spot for one of the popular musical scenes most prevalent performers. The production team behind X reads like a who's who of recent chart success, with contributions from Cathy Dennis, Calvin Harris, Eg White, Guy Chambers and the Freemasons, all of whom have either collaborated on previous Minogue success stories or had strong chart hits in their own right. Ever commercially-aware, it would seem that Kylie has ... Read the complete review

Inventive and well-structured.

Atmospheric, uplifting post-rock for a rainy day.

High quality old-school death metal... but new.
No ideas of its own.
Brave Murder Day - Katatonia
Excellent song structure, riffs, vocals and lyrics
Whilst fitting the songs very well, the simplistic and repetitive drums may irritate some.
