shouty, political and loud guitars - superb (Xtrmntr - Primal Scream)
Member Name: fragileshapes
Advantages: an exhilarating experience Disadvantages: takes a few listens to get into it
This has to be one of the best albums of 2000. Here Primal Scream infuse dance electronic beats with heavy rock guitars and mind-blowing basslines. Dont be put off by the political undertones the passion and true meaning behind Primal Scream's lyrics is enough to start a riot and change any facists mind. This album actually feels like an album instead of just a bunch of songs put together. To get the true feel of it you have to listen to it all together at first and if you're in the right mood for it it shouldn't be too hard. The best songs on here have to be 'kill all hippies'which is very repetitive but still very addictive, 'accelerator' the loudest and most brilliant song on the album, brilliant live, and a wonderful way for Creation Records to end their career with a bang. 'Swastika eyes' which is one of the more 'dancey' songs on the album, infectious beats which will make you want to dance whatever mood you're in, 'blood money'an instrumental with one of the greatest basslines I have had the pleasure to hear, 'keep your dreams'which is the 'ballad' of the album, but don't worry Primal Scream haven't gone all Celine Dion on us, it's still got a strong meaning behind Bobby's beautiful vocals and 'shoot speed/kill light'the albums finale a wonderful way to end on this another of the 'dancey' songs with the simple lyrics repeated throughout 'shoot speed/ kill light'. This album should be cherished, how often is it really that you get an album which such loud guitars and true meaning and you're still able to dance to it. A must buy. Summary: |
