"Year Of The Gentlamn" is the third album from the singer-songwriter Ne-Yo who has come out as one of the top players in the R&B game despite coming into it merely two years ago on the release of his debut single, "So Sick". Since then, "In My Own Words" and "Because Of You" went on to have him successfully earn himself platinum sales and chart-topping records. As you can probably tell by the title, Ne-Yo is changing things here by bringing some class to R&B with all of the recent influence which it has taken from the world of Hip Hop, and all the collaborations it makes with artists who perform in this genre. ... Behind the glitz, glamour, hard beats, and stunning vocals are strong lyrics. Number one hits Take A Bow, sung by Rihanna, and Irreplaceable, performed by Beyonce, showcase Ne-Yo's ability to produce highly successful songs for other artists...but what about himself? Ne-Yo's previous albums were the type where the best songs on the album were released as singles, leaving behind duds you'll never listen to again, but it's third time lucky for Shaffer 'Ne-Yo' Smith. The number one single, Closer, is misleading because it is a quick pace you could dance to. This album is full of smooth, slow and mid-tempo tracks that best suit easy listening in the car ... Year of the Gentlemen is Ne-Yo's 3rd album and was released on September 16th 2008. It was nominated for 6 Grammy awards but never won any of them. 4 singles so far have been released from the album. 1. Closer Closer reached #1 on the UK charts and spent 11 weeks in the top 10. Unlike most of Ne-Yo's other songs, this one takes on more of a dance pop feel rather than the chilled urban sound. 2. Miss Independent This song gives a great message about men liking strong women who can do things for themselves. Although this is one of the best songs on the album it only reached #6 on the UK charts. The video features a couple of well ... Read the complete review

Ne-yo's singles are really successful so far and he sure picks them well. His cool smooth music style, interesting lyrics, catchy choruses and intervals with the all so great voice and vocals to match all showcase his TALENT! 'Miss Independent' is my favourite track on this album and has to be one of Neyo's best tracks so far!, I suppose it would really appeal to the many self-confessed 'independent women' out there; me included and all those wishing they were independent too..:) The lyrics of this track are fantastic and his tone and sound make this song even more interesting than it actually is and watching the video is a must as it does the song justice - ... Ne-Yo is definitely in his own league when it comes to RnB music. He has a great smooth voice, with a good range and when it comes to writing music he is one of the best. I am a fan of both of his previous albums however I understand where people are coming from when they say his last album was a little bit too slow, " Because of You" was the only real successful single from the album but this time round Ne-Yo does not disappoint and has obviously listened to his critics. The first single off the album "Closer" reached number one and is a great dance track, being played in a lot of clubs right now. Sounding slightly influenced by the ... Read the complete review
