Does It Offend You, Yeah? - You Have No Idea What Your Getting Yourself Into...
================================================= ===

When I was rummaging through a few of my CD's a few weeks ago, I thought to myself " I really need a change of music ". I had only become more interested in music a few motnhs before then, but I got bored with the usual pop music and some R & B classics, so I thought I would give some other artists work a listening to. I was begging to choose a genre of music like a rock type or a heavy metal type, but some of the songs I listened to just didn't suit my ears...

So I looked all over the internet for an electronic genre of music and it's artists. There were a few artists I had heard of and I didn't like those so much. I kept on looking untilI found Does It Offend You Yeah?.I looked up a little about this band and was quite impressed of how good they were as they were compared to the brilliant band of Muse. I decided to go on to Youtube and check out some of Does It Offend You Yeah's songs, and I was quite impressed, but was I right?...

The next day I went on to Amazon and looked for any of the albums that Does It Offend You Yeah? have released. I noticed this album, and after looking at the information given with the purchase, I noticed there were ten tracks on this album, so I made the right choice and decided to buy the album for £8.00, but was it the right choice?...

=== Who Are Does It Offend You,Yeah? ===

First of all, Does It Offend You, Yeah? are an electronic type rock band who hail from reading in England. Does It Offend You, Yeah? started playing their own songs in 2006 and then this year of 2008 they brought out this album " You have no idea what your getting yourself into ". The band consists of four group members. James Rushent plays the bass and he is also the lead vocalist of the band. Dan Coop is in member who is in charge of the synthesizer effects. Morgan Quaintance has many jobs of playing the guitar, vocals of one of their songs, and he's also part of the synthesizer controls...

Does It Offend You, Yeah? have had an award since they started in the year of 2006. In the year of 2007 , Does It Offend You,Yeah? won an award for the worst band name by the Gaurdian Unlimited. As some of us could agree, this name is very odd but very different. DIOYY were also nominated for the DJ Magazine Best Of British award for the best breakthrough award. Unfortunetly for them, they were only nominated and they didn't win...

=== The Album ===

This album named You Have No Idea What Your Getting Yourself Into, was released on March the 24th of this year (2008). Elliot James is the producer of the album, and the album is labeled from virgin records (UK). All together there are 10 tracks on the album, although if you purchase the album from iTunes, then you will get the free track " Like They Way I Do ". Plus if you buy this album from play.com then you will get the song " Tales Of The Chameleon " free on your album purchase...

All together on this album I am reveiwing however there are ten tracks, where some are very good and some are a little dissapointing...

Track 1 - Battle Royale

This track is a great opener to a very good album. The track itself starts of with a slow sort of buzzing rythm with some drum beats, creating a sort of image of people fighting, and the name of the song also links together with this image as well which is very interesting. Later on in the track about 15 seconds into it, some more electronic sound come into it from the synthesizer effects. They are very hard to describe, but they really do create an atmosphere...

Around a minute into the song, you hear the bass guitar and the electronic beat at the start of the song. After this effect, around 1.10 minutes into the song, I get an image of a fight between robots due to the noises. Strange I know but that's what the effects give me an image of. Nearer the end of the song there is more of a drum interaction into the song and it calms down a little as the end approaches. The ending brings us the middle part of the song back again, and then all sorts of beats...

A Great warm up track, with no lyrics but some great synthesizer and electronic effects to open up...

Overall I will award this track with an 8/10...
3.40 Minutes...

Track 2 - With A Heavy Heart

This track starts off with a heavy rock effect which made me jump a little as the effect was quite loud. This is one of the tracks that I really did not take to on the album. I was o dissapointed with this track as it has quite a good name, but it is just a big heap of noise that isn't very pleasent to the ear. The vocals in this track aren't good at all, they sound very out of tune and just a load of old yelling in a high pitched voice...

" I missed Her
He Kiss Her
He Taked Her
He Raced Her"

These lyrics aren't easy to understand, and they are silly lyrics that aren't sang well in my opinion...

Overall, this song will have to be awarded a low rate of 2/10. I was extremely disspointed with the vocals and the weak instrumental backing of the song. There was no enjoyment to this song at all, so I recomend that you steer clear of this track sadly...
4.04 Minutes...

Track 3 - We Are Rockstars

This track stars off with a quieter tune and then moves into it being louder. This track has some great electronic beats to it. there are all sorts of electronics used in this track and that is why it is fairly interesting to listen to...

There are some vocals in the song in an electronic voice which is quite good to listen to, but I can't hear the lyrics very well as they aren't clear enough, but what I can make out the most memorable lyrics of the song are...

" You're all rock stars now in a network town
theres no place to go,
to be on your own
making friends and foes
watch the network grow "

These lyrics may not be too accurate as this is as much as I can work out from the lyrics...

Overall this song would receive a 6/10. The instrumental isn't too bad and I like the voice that the lyrics are sang in as much as I can make out...

I would recomend you listen to this track and see what you think...
3.52 Minutes....

Track 4 - Dawn Of The Dead

This track starts of as if it is a soft rock typed song. You can really hear the guitars and drums playing in the background and is quite pleasant. The lyrics in this song are great also...

The most memorable lyrics in the song are...

" Like the men that were before me he said
'the dawn of the dead came toward me I'm afraid.
You could try again but they'll ignore you, and me
I want to sit down and say that will do I'm afraid.
Today I stood and walked away
I'm never coming back this way
I've got my things, I'm here to stay
I'll try to pull the night away" ...

These lyrics aren't sang in a scary sort of tone even though they are quite different and worrying lyrics to the person in the song, but this song really creats a spooky atmosphere with it's guitar and drum ensemble playing in the background. This song is sang fantastically and this is another favourite of mines...

Overall, this song will be awarded 9/10 for it's wonderful thought-provoking lyrics and it's great instrumental effects...

I would definitely recomend that you listen to this song, you won't be dissapointed...
3.28 Minutes...

Track 5 - Doomed Now

Doomed Now is very like Dawn Of The Dead, with it's instrumental backing such as the guitars drums and vocals. I really love listening to this song because of the instruments playing. This song actully inspiried me to play the drums because the drums really do shine throughout the track. The vocals in the track are fairly difficult to understand as the vocals are brought to us in an electronic voice sound...

The most memorable lyrics to me in the song....

" We Came Like A Bullet From A Valentine
Like A Man Who Was Running From The Rest Of Time
I Can't Move Now
We're All Doomed Now "...

These lyrics are quite strange, but this song creates an image in my head of some men who are trying to escape from the bad but end up being doomed, strange but that's what the song makes me think about...

Overall, this song receives a 7/10. I really like the backing music to this song, and the lyrics are quite thought - provoking to the story, but they are hard to understand so that is why this track receives a good old 7/10...

I recomend you listen to this track and see what you think...
3.41 Minutes...

Track 6 - Attack Of The 60ft Lesbain Octopus

I know I know this track name seems a little rude, and the music of the track isn't good either. I was very dissapointed with this track as there are no good sound effects to it at all, there are no lyrics what so ever and it is extremely boring...

Overall this song receives a 2/10. I found this song very annoying and boring so I wouldn't recomend that you listen to this track unless you like electronic music so much!!!...

1.59 Minutes ( Thank Goodness A Short One )...

Track 7 - Let's Make Out

This track starts of by saying " Let's Make Out " about twenty times, some lyrics come into the song. The vocals sound as if they are a punk sounding type of singing for some reason, and there are no really good effects in this song, although this track is very catchy as I find myself singing...

" If the feeling's right you can see it
it's the same, don't hurt
if you can't stop yourself when you feel it.
ooooh "...

Very catchy....

Overall, this song receives a 5/10. I like how the vocals are very strong, but they do get a little boring so I don't really recomend this song to be listened to if you don't like Alternative punk music...

Track 8 - Being Bad Feels Pretty Good

This track starts off with a ith a really soft keyboard sounding tune, but then incomes the more bass guitar sounding instrumental. Later on the lyrics come into the song along with the rythm, and the lyrics. The lyrics are sang superbly and they really fit in well with the backing music. This is what Does It Offend You, Yeah is all about? the great entertainment factor, and in this song there is plenty to keep you entertained when you sit back and relax and listn to this track, it's fantastic...

" Fill me with your lies
A product of these times
I'll leave it all behind
I'll hunt from deep inside"

These are just some of the lyrics that really make you think of someone who has lied. This song makes me think of my older friend who has lied in the past and how I feel about it inside, strange but different don't you think?...

Overall, this track receives a big old 9/10 for it's superb lyrics, the very interesting image that I get from the song, and the instrumental music, this track is also quite peaceufl when you lye back with your eyes closed and listen to it...

I recomend you give this track a listening to...
4.06 Minutes...

Track 9 - Weird Sceince

This song is my second favourite on the album. This track starts of with a quiet electronic voice and then rises in volume as the song progresses. There are no lyrics at all in this song, only electronic sound effects which are quite interesting to listen to...

This track makes me think of when me and my old friend youst to go to the park and have some fun playing hide and seek. Now it is a weird image I get, but the actual music video for this song is of people sat in a park or picnic area, and from it's name, what do you expect?...

Overall, this song receives an 8/10. Because there are no lyrics, this song doesn't receive the highest rate, but the electronic sounds and the rythm really go well and that's what raises it up to an 8/10...

I would recomend that you listen to this track...
5.04...

Track 10 - Epic Last Song

This song starts off with a slow rythm played by the groups guitarist who makes a good job of it. The lyrics soon come in to the song and they are sang exttremely well along with the drum and guitars playing in the background...

" I say baby, babe i've loved you a long time
i try harder just to know youre all mine
I say baby, babe i've loved you a long time
i grow happy knowing that youre alright "...

These are the most memorable lyrics and they do a great job as part of the chrorus. This track has been played on the british soap of Hollyoaks for a sunset ending scene, and this song must do the trick!!!...

Overall, this song receives a 9/10. I really enjoyed listening to this track with it's great instrumental effects and it's great vocals. A great ending track!!!...

I definitely recomend for you to listen to this track...
4.36 Minutes...

=== My Opinion ===

In my honest opinion, I can say that this is one of the best albums I have ever bought. After hearing that Does It Offend You, Yeah? was a very good band and was compared to the likes of Muse and Daft Punk, I knew I had to buy this album.

I was quite impressed with all of the different synthesizer sounds that the band brought to us in this album, and the vocals of what I heard were very good but some of them need to be a little clearer. The instrumental of the song is exellent as well. I love the job that the band has done with the guitars and drums, it makes the music all the more exiting...

. I can listen to many of the tracks without getting bored. I think there are a few weak tracks but I suppose you find that on every album. I can also agree that Does It Offend You, Yeah? have a bright music career, and could they be the next Daft Punk?...

=== Price and Packaging ===

Well in this case, the packaging of the album is of course the album cover. The album cover is very bland with just a plain, black background where the writing of " Does It Offend You, Yeah?" in birght colours as if they were painted on. I agree that the album cover could do with a little more detail but I think that the colourful writing is fairly attractive...

The average price of the album is around £8.00 to around £13.00. I think that this is a fairly good price for this album, but I wouldn't suggest that you look around shops for it as it is more popularly sold online from sites such as eBay or amazon...

=== Why Buy The Album ===

You should really give this album a try if you feel you want to try another type of music fro a change, then I would recomend you to this album as it really get's you into the world of electronic modern music...

If you are already a big fan of indie music or indie rock and electronic music then this is definitely the album for you. As christmas is approaching, this could be a great treat for someone you know who likes this genre of music, or a treat for yourself. Whatever way you choose to buy, if you do buy it however, you should definitely impress someone or you will be impressed yourself overall...

Thank you for reading...
