I was first introduced to The Beat in July 2009 whilst on holiday in Florida. Reel Big Fish were playing at the Hard Rock Orlando and The Beat were supporting them. They were absolutely fantastic and were possibly even better than Reel Big Fish were! After hearing The Beat live I just had to go an purchase their CD. I saw it in HMV for £3 and it was an instant buy. After the first couple of minutes of listening, I was well and truly hooked. The fantastic guitar work of Dave Wakeling mixed with the seamless "toasting" of Ranking Roger is just the perfect "two-tone" combination imaginable! The entire album just appears ... I had seen the odd video from The Beat on VH1 and also had seen other style of band like The Specials but it was not until when on the documentary series on VH1 Bands Reunited did I really get interested in the band as it was great to see where they had come from how there music had come about what happened to the band after they went their seperate ways and how the VH1 presenter tried so very hard to track down and bring back together all original members of The Beat. Skateboarding Down Merlins Hill With Penny Harry - Picture Frame Seduction
Into the Unknown - Bad Religion
Brett Gurewitz gets some guitar solos, and Greg Graffin shows he can do mellow too.
A very lousy eighties synth-pop-rock album.
El Angel Caido - Avalanch
The peak of Avalanch's melodic/prog/power style, with interesting experiments.
Some songs still seem like filler, especially by comparison to the strong closing material.
Bard's Song - Blind Guardian
It's a great old song.
We didn't need five versions.
Animetal Marathon 3: Tsuburaya Pro - Animetal
Consistent heavy metal adaptations of anime theme tunes.
No good for people who don't get it, and lacking in variety.
Age Of Chaos - Battleroar
More classic metal, this time enhanced by modern folk touches.
Similar guitar tone makes songs sound somewhat alike on the surface.
Ba Dop Boom Bang - Grandmaster Flash
Hip-Hop & Rap - East Coast - 2005
