Premium Review You'll Rebel To Anything - Mindless Self Indulgence: You'll Rebel To Anything (299 words)
by - written on 02/02/09 (Very useful, 14 readings)
Rating:

Mindless Self Indulgence are a band that produce a sound like you've never known. They fuse rock, metal, electronic, industrial and techno all into one. Mixed in with the lead singer, Jimmy Urine's fast paced and very high pitched vocals. I've never heard a band quite like them. They are new and unique and incredibly addictive. You'll Rebel To Anything is Mindless Self Indulgence's 4th album. Since the first album they haven't dramatically changed in music style, they have kept true to their unique sound which is a good thing. The album contains what is now recognised as some great and classic Mindless Self Indulgence tracks. 'Shut Me Up' kicks in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review MSI find the key to mainstream success (161 words)
by - written on 18/03/09 (Very useful, 10 readings)
Rating:

Mindless self indulgence are undeniably an original mixture of music. This albulm is no exception. It has all the controversial lyrics, insults and quick paced witty writing fans have come to expect from this band. The difference is, this time they've got some mainstream success. The albulm has propelled a humble band, largely unknown, to a band capable of playing on the Reading festival main stage. The albulm is infact a very humourous albulm, taking the mick of some very serious issues, and their fans. Teenagers are made a mokery of in such ways that will leave you eather angry, thinking or laughing. The controversy this band offers is both a positive and ...  Read the complete review

"You'll rebel to anything" has to be one of Mindless Self Indulgences best albums yet. With hits such as "straight to video" and "shut me up" you will find yourself totally addicted to this band after just the first few listens. Not only does every song have lyrics that will simply stay in your head for days, but with an even catcher tune, this album will get you dancing and singing along no matter where you are. I am a fairly new Mindless Self Indulgence listener, but this album was like nothing I have heard before. With a rebellious attitude that will truly make you want to "rebel against anything". I strongly ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review New York Mentalists Finally Get The Break That They Deserve. (207 words)

This band is quite simply something else. Frontman Jimmy Urine claims the music the band play should be labeled as Industrial Jungle Pussy Punk, but not even this tag prepares your for the schizophrenic burst of sound that is You'll Rebel to Anything. My favourite track on here has to be Stupid MF, two and a half minutes of insane lyrics and a sound that, even in such a short time, swings from metal to hip-hop and then back round to punk. Casual listeners might have also heard some of the more radio-friendly singles from this release, namely Shut Me Up with its gigantic riff and bouncy chorus; and lead single Straight To Video, with synths remeniscent of 80s ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review You'll Rebel To Anything - Mindless Self Indulgence: Mindless self indulgence (163 words)
by - written on 30/11/08 (Useful, 10 readings)
Rating:

This album is a mix of rock, industrial, dance and is just a bit weird but really upbeat and exciting. It has the well known track 'Shut me up', which is like a whole new genre that is upcoming. Mindless Self Indulgence have had quite a few albums before this one which are less dance like and more 'rap' (lead singer Jimmy Urine talking/singing fast and with some comical voices), but this album is definately one you can jump around your living room to. They use a wide range of noises, using loops and samples and mixing up their tracks which make them very complicated and interesting to listen to. If your not open to listening to something a bit out of the box and perhaps ...  Read the complete review

Some great heavy metal riffs, band on top form. Doesn't make as much of an impact as the first album.

Some good old tunes... Some naff dated ones...

The Ripper does an adequate job filling in for Halford. Seventies material now sounds out of place.

More great eighties heavy metal. Nothing new after 'Screaming for Vengeance.'

BRUCE'S BACK No super speed track

Heavy Metal - 1993

Cult - The Cult
Deeply personal lyrics and some pleasant, slow hard rock songs. Dull and unconvincing.

Cyberia - Cubanate
More focused direction, with room for diversity. Less rocking than its predecessor.

Crematory - Crematory
Return of doom metal. Standing still.

Conspiracy In Mind - Communic
Some great modern progressive thrash. Sounds exactly the same as Nevermore.

Crowned In Terror - Crown
Violent and fast-paced death metal. Becomes samey by the second song.

Convicted - Cryptic Slaughter
Heavy Metal - 2003

Cool Out And Coexist - Dub Trio
An inventive take on two genres of music that seldom meet. May not be to everyones taste.

Crimson Glory - Crimson Glory
Perfects the eighties melodic metal sound. Product of its time.

Deaf Dumb Blind - Clawfinger

Count Me In - Death Before Dishonor
A number of excellent tracks, better than the bands previous albums. Hardcore haters stay well away.
