Young Americans is a departure from what Bowie fans came to expect from his previous albums. Changing from the classic rock style of his previous albums, Bowie begins to delve into the style of rythm + blues. This album marks the death of such personnae as Ziggy Stardust, Alladin Sane and Halloween Jack (Diamond Dogs). The title track is a classic example of commercialism, clearly appealing to the radio audiences of the mid-seventies who were leaning more towards disco.
